If you lived in the SW Universe, which type of government would you support? Would you be a Separatist, a citizen of the Republic, an Imperial, a member of the GA/NR, a Hapan, a Corellian... I would probably want to be an Imperial living in the Core. I would go to fancy parties organized by people such as Grand Admiral Grant and Emperor Palpatine himself. In my opinion, the Empire wasn't that bad. If you behaved and did what you were supposed to do, no harm would come to you. Plus, the Empire provided security and stability. Thoughts!
Unless you're an alien. Or near someone who wasn't behaving, like on the same planet even. How does Alderaan sound? Say, circa 0 BBY. I wouldn't support any government. Not that I'm anti-government, I just don't care. Republic, Empire, whatever.......I'd find a way.
I have some Rebel sympathies, but that's about it. I don't support any government. The only reason I vote is because it's my civic duty.
So far this is a pretty depressing thread. We've got support for fascism, indifference to democracy or fascism and clam culture. Personally I'll take some Killik planet. They seem to get along without bi-partisan issues. I've always thought of myself as a joiner rather than a follower.
I stand by the Galactic Republic, New Republic, and Galactic Federation of Free Alliances. This thread needed a paragon of democracy and freedom. Thus I appear! --Adm. Nick
I'd live on Corellia and marry Luke Skywalker, there'd be no Mara bb ha I'd support the Republic/Alliance/New Republic
Have you never consider marrying Palpatine? At least, you would be empress![/quote] lol No I like blonds, pilots and men who are Jedi.
Why would they invite you to their party? I suppose, so long as you follow all the laws and their sub-sections, as exhaustively detailed in the numerous volumes of Imperial law, nothing will happen to you. Cross one of those lines however.... Well, don't worry, I'll still see you tomorrow, won't I? The key Qs are: Stability for who? Security at what price?
I would prefer living under the Old or New Republic or the Galactic Alliance. Specific planet? No idea
Ben, that's alarmist nonsense. The Imperial touch was a light one in the Core and most governments were left intact so long as the people on top paid homage to their betters. It was more Roman or Achaemenid than fascist -- that's the Remnant. The sort of stuff you refer to did not occur to common people but rather nationalized entities or targets of corrupt busybodies abusing their power. Alternatively, we see those antics from SAGroup thugs and other populist goose steppers. As for my answer, I'd be fine with either the glory years of the Old Republic or the First Empire. I also think that our fishy friend may be disappointed if he thinks the Republic is anything resembling a democracy. Misa ab iPhono meo.
I'd like to live on Naboo. It's like paradise there. Aside from the TF invasion, it's stable and safe. There may be Palpatine loyalists there in the Imperial Age, but there's plenty of freedom-loving people too, and it seems to rejoin the NR/GA soon enough. Alderaan would have been nice too, if I didn't know it was going to get blown up. I think a more interesting question would be which alien species you'd choose to be (not human or too near-human).
Pah, freedom. Liberty and freedom at two different things and the Core Eorkfs know the difference. I love Naboo -- it's one of my top four favorite worlds -- but their political system is a bit goofy. They've preserved Grizmalltese monarchy but perverted it into something odd. Still can't help but like them though. Alderaan is also one of my favorite worlds. Misa ab iPhono meo.
I'd prefer to live in the Old republic anytime in the past 10000 years if their history. Frankly I wouldn't want to be caught up in any major conflict and the OLD republic has had periods of thousands of years with little to no galactic wide conflict. Sure that may sound boring to some people but the republic is a pretty stable society for 90% of its history. Stability is good and since I'd prefer to live on Coruscant or another ecunomoplis(spelled wrong I know) world I'd have plenty to do and see and experience.
If they don't invite me, I will invite them! I won't cross any lines. Security for Humans! Do you honestly want an Anzati or a Florn Lamproid living next door? By the way, you're the one with the Eclipse as an avatar!
