A/V SOLO: A Star Wars Story (untagged spoilers allowed)

Tough crowd tonight... both of those lines were jokes.

 

I don't know why, maybe it's because I've watched the trailer too many times but I would actually like it (providing the movie turns out to be "good") if Enreich got the chance play Han in more than one film....

Also seeing Chewie beside a young Han makes his witnessing of his friend's death in TFA all the more heart-breaking

 

I have seen speculation out there that the tentacles might be from a giant purgil.

Oh man, people's reactions if that were true.....

Hmmm....it would be cool if this was Space Scylla and there was a Black Hole to be Charybdis.....

 

Well - it's fun, but then, it's hard to think of a bad SW trailer ...

Some thoughts:

Ehrenreich (sp) is trying to sell his "Han-ness," I'll give him that. He's not as ascerbic and wise-acre as Harrison was, but then, A) who CAN be?, and B) this is a younger Han, presumably with less of an edge.

Chewie looks good; I was confused about that one alien gunner (that wasn't Maz, was it? Looked to have too many arms ), Glover looks good as Lando , and the overall atmosphere seems to work well.

Qi'ra - eh. Emilia Clarke is endearing enough, and I can handwave the naming convention.

That said ... if we get kriffing Abeloth as the Kessel Run ...

But the Maw certainly looks confirmed, which is FAR more than I'd dared hope for. I'm willing to allow for broad strokes, and to give Ron Howard the benefit of the doubt until I see the film.

 

Why did I just get the feeling that this is Ahsoka?

That's what I'm thinking.

Me too. This might be one of my favorite bits. The fact that they do it perfectly in unison is so great.

 

Good trailer hype level rising though they shouldn’t of put it so close to infinity war

 

I wonder if this will be the 1st film that lacks a light saber. I'm pretty sure we won't see a force sensitive, however because of the fall of the Jedi, some of their blades have fallen to other hands. Seeing a lightsaber as a trophy a collector acquired could work.

Yeah this might be the first Star Wars movie to not have a lightsaber, unless Vader appears......

I didn't think I needed a Blaxploitation-style Lando movie until now...

 

I think the Jeremy Jahns review articulates best my view on the trailer.

It looks like a fun if bland and forgettable movie with a Starwars name slapped on it.

I think if they hadn’t used Han Solo as the main character it would’ve been ok. Because that is not Han Solo

 

Even if it's not Ahsoka - it's probably not Ahsoka - I kinda love the idea that it's a Togruta under there.

 

Well, yeah. This is likely the first time he's getting any significant character development, outside of those few (good) bits of TFA where he's thoroughly sincere.

 

I'm not too interested, but I hope this film succeeds. A boon from this film succeeding would be Disney and Lucasfilm getting approval from the fan base to recast the OT's big 3. Particularly with regards to Leia in Ep IX. I think it's very possible that Leia doesn't get recast if "New Han" stinks.

 

Episode IX comes out next December. I'm sure they'd made the decision already.

 

Opinions on the trailer music? It doesn't scream 'Star Wars' to me (and I wasn't expecting that guitar) but I do at least get a heist movie feel from it.

But of course, it may just be specially made for the trailer and not part of the soundtrack.
