Some characters for you -

Greetings folks -

In an effort to try my hand at converting characters from D6 to D20 (the area I'm weakest in), I whipped up a couple of stat blocks. Being that I'm a generous soul, I decided to post them here for your benifit.

Caton grew up on the mean streets of Coruscant, living in the lower levels where either you were a badass or you were dead. He had been living there as long as he could remember, suffering with a dysfunctional family - a substance abusing father who didn't give a damn about his kids, and a tramp mother who was never at home. Caton had just reached six years old - a phenomenal occurrence considering the environment he was living in, when his life turned around. It was early one morning, and Caton was working the upper levels of his sector - the commuter airbus platforms, trying to find something good to lift from a unaware traveler. to appease his father. His hands dipped into the pocket of Nara Damaris, a Jedi master. Caton was lucky and slick - managing to liberate the Jedi's lightsaber. Not quite realizing what he was about to get into, he headed straight back home with his ill gotten booty. There, his totally unimpressed dad geared up for the boy's noon beating. Fortunately Nara showed up just before in time before the drunken brawl got underway.

Nara sensed that Caton was strong in the force right off the bat - perhaps it was that strength with the Force that gave him the edge to survive. Regardless, Nara regarded him as wasting his talent - that he deserved so much more than barely getting by day to day. She bought him lunch and spent the day just talking to the boy. Caton was distrustful of the stranger right off the bat. He saw her more as a potential sucker - hook her with a sob story, get a good meal out of her and then haul jets at first available opportunity. However, she slowly managed to get the youth to trust her - not through showy demonstrations of the Force or some form of grandstanding - but by actually caring. That was a tactic that that threw Caton - nobody ever concerned themselves with that before. He agreed to at least accompany her and see what she had to offer.

Of course the Jedi Council decided that Caton was too old to train - six was ancient, by Jedi training standards after all. Nara went to the mat for him- she had a soft spot for the boy. She could see much of herself in him - a loner, an outsider who often couldn't quite fit in. Since she was a persuasive person - or at least an annoyance that wouldn't go away until she got what she wanted, the council finally admitted Caton into the Jedi order.

Once at the academy, Caton still had a hard time. He was a nice enough guy, and it wasn't for lack of trying. It was just that his social interaction skills were a bit blunted - when he wasn't working the crowd, that is. After Nara took him as her Padawan, se was able to straighten Caton out. Since then he's become quite the . . . unusual Padawan. He's always got an angle. Quite often, he was the one who got into trouble around the temple or was caught sneaking out after hours - generally being the one most likely to be at the center of a problem. Despite all that, he has a deep respect for the Force, and is very serious about the training - he just tends to be more realistic and grounded in reality than some of the other Padawans.
