Well as we said, that might be the modem J.

Why the switch to Win2K from 98 btw? For one thing, it is a lot more stable...

and how can it be the modem if its working fine now? I am using at this very moment the modem I am trying to install on my new hard drive

 

I should rephrase that... the modem in terms of not being recognised by Win2K. If the OS doesn't pick it up as new hardware, then there must be some non-communication between the two. Despite there being drivers for it on the disc, it may not actually be Win2K compatible. That or Win2K screwing up and not recognising the slot that the modem is in...

 

it's either the drivers or the OS because I know its in properly and I have found out it is win2k is compatible

 

can you go back to Win 98- go to the modem manfacturer site- download the most uptodate driver and then install Win 2k? or could you be bothered doing that?

 

I am using windows 98 at the moment hense how I am online, but I cant find any drivers the only one mayhem gave me was for XP so I am kinda stuck I need a large hard drive but it got no modem and this one has a small drive but a modem.....why cant things be simple lol
