It's odd... sometimes I think of Ewan and another time I think of Sir Alec. I think of a specific quote for each of them...

Ewan: "Obi-Wan Kenobi" (On Kamino... great delivery)
Sir Alec: "Obi-Wan... I haven't gone by the name Obi-Wan since all before you were born."

For laughs and giggles I'll go with Sir Alec.

Well I never really thought about it until I read the thread title.

Basically no actor comes to mind. The first thing that popped into my head was the Character, not the actors. They all sort of mold into one person for me.

EWAN. After anaylising thing I might have start wondering, but the first, automatic reaction would be Ewan.

I think of Sir Alec because when I think of the word Obi-Wan Kenobi, I think of the scene in ANH in the desert after he rescues Luke:

Luke: He claims to be the property of an Obi-Wan Kenobi. Is he a relative of yours? Do you know what he's talking about?

Obi-Wan(this is the line which pops in my head): Obi-Wan Kenobi? Obi-Wan... Now, that's a name I haven't heard in a long time... A long time.

Luke: I think my uncle knows him. He said he was dead.

Obi-Wan: Oh, he's not dead... Not yet.

    Luke: You know him?

Obi-Wan: Of course I know him: He's me.

    Sir Alec Guinness
After all he did say the
    name as Obi-Wan no Obi-Wahn

I find that amusing and I remember
    what I find find funny.

    Though Ewan's portrayal
has had more screen time and
a more pivotal role in things.

If somebody says Obi-wan first thing to pop in my mind would be Ewan raceing out in the rain on Kamino with his light saber in hand ready to take on jango!

With all the ROTS hype around on the Jedi Council boards, Ewan was the first to pop into my head when I first saw the title of this thread. But if someone asks this question out of the blue, I'd probably go for the Jedi robes before thinking of a face.

I view them as one character, which is the highest compliment to both actors, in my opinion. Both Ewen and Sir Alec have given powerful impressions of the character as one fluidly aging man, from his introduction as a Padawan in TPM to his death as an aging Master in ANH.

Sir Alec Guniess's Obi-Wan Kenobi was one of my favorite characters when I saw the movie in '77, and Ewen McGregor has made sure he stayed a favorite in the PT. It's been like watching an old friend grow up in front of your eyes.

Ewan and Alec both pop into my mind at the same time. I think that Ewan has had a better experience with being Obi since Alec started to hate the fame he got from being Obi. And I also read something about him a long time ago about Alen being quite mean and snappy to children when they tried to get his autograph.

    Padme.

But then it does alot anyway.
    Here's an example: Leia.
    Leia-Padme. See?

Ummm. Not sure how to describe what just came to mind, but I'll be in my bunk.

Since I've seen AOTC the most, I think of the mullet Ewan.

I think of Alec first then almost immediately Ewan comes to mind. I was worried about OB1 in TPM, because Ewan played him so young. In AOTC, I started to see hints of AG's OB1. I can def. see those hints of OB1 in the Geonosis death pit scene.

When I read the subject line I actually thought this was a trick question, haha. But i'd have to say Ewan McGregor. Obi-Wan seems to play a more important part in the prequel trilogy that he did in the original, seeing as he has more screen time. The original seems to centre more on Luke, Leia and Han, with Ben on the sidelines to guide Luke, whereas in the prequels it's centred on Anakin, Obi Wan, Palpatine and Padme.

When I say "Obi-Wan Kenobi", different images flash by in my mind:

Obi-Wan crying over a dying Qui-Gon. And then at Qui-Gon's funeral.
Obi-Wan on Kamino inspecting the Clone Army. And that great face-off with Jango.
Obi-Wan at the end of his duel with Anakin.
    Obi-Wan delivering Luke on Tatooine.
Obi-Wan healing Luke in ANH and saying "Hello there" to R2.
    Obi-Wan on Hoth.
Obi-Wan on Endor smiling at Anakin.

What a great progression of a character! One of the very best things of the saga! And certainly for me, the very BEST thing of the PT.

I think of the guy in "Raise the Titanic" who owned the bar in Cornwall. He took the penant off her before she went down.
