Imperial advertising. You've got eyes like an eagle MGK!

 

Umm, nice try but... no. Any shadowy picture of a circle with boxy pinwheel indentations could probably be mistaken for the Imperial Seal. The seal itself is symmetrical and the Death Star indentations are clearly not, even in that picture.

The books The Art of Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: Chronicles have some nice close-up pictures of the model verifying this. Better yet, just watch the movie....

If you look at the bridge of the star Destroyer in this picture. You can make out the letters "S F" in the superstructure.
S.F. = Science Fiction.
