This was written for the speedwriter association?s 2?nd challenge:
Obi-Wan Kenobi, meet Luke Skywalker: write a situation (pre-ANH) where Obi-Wan (Ben) has to get young Luke out of a sticky situation. Must at least mention a pod-racer.

    OR

OC meet Ben Skywalker: write a situation where an OC and Ben are in a sticky situation. Whether both of them get out of that situation alive is up to you. Must at least mention the Millennium Falcon.

I did the first option. :D

Summary: Nine-year old Luke ran away because of difficulties between him and his uncle. One little problem is he forgot to bring any water. Will Ben Kenobi get to him in time?

I hope you enjoy! Thankee for reading!

There was definitely something in the air. Ben Kenobi drew in a long breath, and then exhaled. No, it wasn?t an odd smell. It was something else. From the Force? Possibly. Time would tell.

He glanced at the sky then placed his hood over his head. He began to walk. The morning suns were not yet bright enough to do his skin damage, but they soon would be. The walk was not too far, but it was certainly far enough. The four canteens strapped to his belt would be just barely enough water to sustain him for the trip there and back again.

The suns-rise was a beautiful painting of pink and orange and yellow splashed clouds, and was enough to keep him entertained during the long walk. His past also managed to keep him entertained, though not in such a pleasant way. He often reflected on his past actions, wondering what he could have done different, and wishing he had not done this or said that. But then he would always chide himself for having such thoughts, and would move on.

Ben swerved from his straight path to make way for a herd of large Banthas. They lumbered past slowly and majestically, lowing to each other and sending signals through body movements in a language that Ben could and would never understand.

A young Bantha strayed from the herd to investigate the brown-cloaked figure walking past, but quickly returned after a call from one of the older and more mature Banthas. Could Obi-Wan have done that? Could Obi-Wan have brought back his strayed pupil with a simple call? Maybe if?like the older Bantha?he had been paying attention to his young Bantha he might have been able to. But things got out of control. His young Bantha did not want to be called back?he had run off too quickly and too far to be saved from a certain evil and powerful carnivore. It had been too late for Obi-Wan?s Bantha. He was consumed. No amount of calling could have brought him back.

Ben chided himself?as he always did?for having such thoughts. What was done was done, and it was not healthy or practical to dwell on the past. For the future had arrived, and with it had arrived hope. Up ahead he saw his destination. A moisture farm. But there was definitely something in the air. What was it? Ben walked faster.

He carefully stepped over the knee-length border alarms used to alert the moisture farm?s residents of the presence of Sandpeople.

He silently crossed the distance separating him from the moisture farmers? dwelling, and followed the sound of raised voices.

?How could you let him go?? A man?s voice. Owen Lars.

?I didn?t let him go any more than you did.? A woman. Beru.

?I knew this would happen! We should never have taken him in.?

?Don?t you say that! Don?t you ever say that!? There was the sound of a hand connecting with skin. Beru has slapped her husband. ?That child needed a place to go. He was an orphan and it was the least we could do for the poor thing. Shame on you! You love Luke like a son, I know you do. Maybe if you let it show he would not be so wary of you. All you do is scold scold scold! He cannot help that he?s different, Owen! It is not fair of you to treat him in such ways.?

Ben had never heard Beru lose her temper before. Obviously something extraordinary had happened.

    ?It scares me, B

Poor kid...he just wants to be loved. It is often sad that relatives don't think before they act. Owen should have asked or looked about, perhaps he would have spotted how Luke cleaned the shelves.

Well done! =D= Loved it! :D Great work!

Liked how you portrayed them all!
