Shara, you've done your best and will continue to do your best until your last seconds as a CR. I know how seriously you take your position here, and it's quite admirable. And that's why I'm so flattered that you nominated me to succeed you.

Shad's a very good person for the role too. As for Batman...give him time.

Ki, I know we haven't always agreed on everything...but we both agree that we want whats best for FF.

Ki has proven he has organisational skills making HTR. Heck, I couldnt do it (One Force being the example there!)

 

I think both of the candidates have shown their abilities in many different situations related to the boards.

While I don't really want to get involved in nominations, I would like to suggest we set down some guidelines, something like a "Fanforce constitution" although I guess it doesn't have to be that formal. I think setting down a few things, like having a yearly election for CR, might avoid some of the more painful issues we've seen lately. I jotted down a few ideas but I'll wait and see what you guys think before I go any further.

 

I will say now, I am STRONGLY against the idea of a new CR every year.

What this forum needs more than anything else is STABILITY, which this would severealy undermine.

The CR would be so concerned about pleasing everyone so that they wouldn't be 'outsed' they'd not only run themselves ragged, but open themselves up to being, for want of a better word, manipulated by people who have nothing better to do than play around with message board politics.

Which is another problem with it - politics. How much of that have we seen lately anyway? Bringing even more of it into here would spell absolute disaster.

And as for a constitution? We have one - the board rules and regulations. I think they cover enough, personally. Any more stricter and we really wouldn't have much in the way of freedom at all.

And D: Last I heard, Scream had said he definately didn't want it. Has that changed? ?

Im not gonna sit here and say why anyone should pick me or anything crap like that. If y'all pick me, Ill do it. If not, Ki or Shadow or whoever is also a great choice

a couple of people asked why I hadnt been nominated, and so I said I asked not to be, they said i was being silly. So i thought about it, and chatted about it to a few of myfriends here, and they said heck why not? If people dont want me they wont elect me!

I figured that was true so what the hell?

 

Yearly elections are a bad thing.

Any elections open the process up to manipulation, and face becoming solely a popularity contest.

Hell, we are SW geeks. Doesnt anyone remember the lessons from TPM?

Manipulation will get you in front if you are prepared to tread that dark path. It seems that some around here are happy to manipulate.

Lets not give them the chance to do this.

 

you guys have three really great people going for the job. i don't see how it's a problem. it's much better to have three great people going for the job than no one really wanting it. trust me, i've been in organizations where elections are unopposed. it sucks. this is a good thing.

Besides, do you really think it will create major problems? Say what you will, nobody is powermongering here. It's a job, not a priviledge. So why the big deal? The term of Shara's stay was 1 year. Are we so "unstable"? Having elections yearly allows people who feel they would like to volunteer to have the chance at the job. Some years no-one else may want it, then the CR keeps it. Big deal. Maybe I'm idealistic but I thought it might be a good idea. Thanks for squashing that flat.

I think any of the people nominated will do a good job.
