Sony: What the hell is going on over there?

Honestly, I don't think the "pr0n factor" is a big deal at all. Sure, it may have been vaguely important in the war the VHS won, but then again they didn't have the internet back then. Free digitally distributed garbage trumps costly physical trash.

 

And half of the pornographic materials on the web are crap.

What boggles my mind the most is does this mean that the porn industry is gonna start shooting their movies in HD?


I think in time, Sony and Blu-Ray will win out, but it's gonna be tough. Microsoft, Intel, Toshiba, the Porn Industry and HP vs. Sony, Dell, Disney, other movie studios. I think Microsoft will pull something out to totally screw over Sony.

 

Actually I believe the porn stars don't want to be shot in HD, because it shows up their physical blemishes too much.

And as soon as BR burners become cheap, there will be pr0n on Blu-Ray

 

Touche. Touche indeed. Might not be the best thing to see.

 

So that leaves what, 50 million quality pr0n sites?

 

I was being liberal in saying half...more so about 99.5%.

 

I have two close friends who work in the porn industry (non actors). One is a director and the other is a Production Assistant working to become a director, say they're still waiting to see which format takes off. From the looks of it, it's the price of the players that is one of the biggest turn off's for them to shot in either format. As some may recall, it's when the price of VHS players went down, is when the porn industry started pumping out VHS tapes of their work. The pattern will hold true again this time around.

 

And let's not forget about the rumor of HD-DVD/Blu Ray players...

 

Ha, that'd suck for both formats.

Hey, the PS3 isn't as useless as you think! At least it gets you used to selling highly demanded items for a profit so they can be sold for a profit and so on and so forth.

When the Spider-Man 3 game hits shelves and on the cover of the PS3-version, the title of the game and the name of the console it's playing on have the exact same font, somebody's gonna be embarrassed.

I'm not being serious here ^, but still one has to wonder what they were thinking ripping the Spider-Man font off so blatantly. Couldn't they at least have tweaked it a bit?

 

Or maybe they'll market it like that.

Bundle Spider-man 3 with PS3.

"The official console of Spider-man 3, the PS3. With 3 times the awesomeness!!! OH YEAH!!!"

Okay, that's a little bit to "80's" of a marketing technique...

or Kool-aid.

 

Sony is the studio behind Spiderman, so it doesn't matter that much about the fonts being different.

 

Besides, they already bundled Spiderman 2 UMD's with the PSP.

 

Probably, the only UMDs they ever sold.

 

I read an article in the business section in the L.A. Times the other day, and it covered on how HD DVD and BluRay people "quietly" toured the San Fernando valley's porn studios trying to convince them to go to either format. From what I read, Vivid is the only company willing to go to the BRD format. Appearantly HD DVD is looking like the choice of porn industry once the players become more affordable. The article also said that the backers of HD DVD also offered free programming courses to the companies that adopted their format...

I heard a rumor that Sony won't give Soontir any money.

 

They won't give you any money, because according to them, the PS3s on the shelves reflect their "healthy production supplies".

 

Versus people paying $300 bucks to other consumers to give up the last Wii on the shelf just to spend another $300 bucks actually buying it from the store. I saw two people literally dive at a Best Buy employee carrying three Wiis out from the back room. Poor employee...
