Yoda spent the 800 years of his life studying and training an entire Jedi Order only to let it be destroyed from within because of it's own corruption, ties to a corrupt senate and his own blinding arrogance. He half-trains Luke who cut his training short to confront Vader and nearly died, then he comes back for more training and now Yoda is dying...with the Jedi still wiped out, the Empire still in control of the galaxy and Darth Sidious in power.

If it wasn't for the Rebellion the Empire would have ruled forever. Obi Wan did more to help the effort than Yoda...so what I ask is did Yoda really earn the peace of eternal sleep at that point???

You can't blame Yoda for Luke abandoning his training. He tried to convince him to stay there and continue, but if a student's not willing to learn, then they can't be taught

Likewise, the fall of the Jedi Order isn't entirely his fault. While it's true its stagnation under his leadership was not the best way to go about it - a fact he very much acknowledges, going by novelizations - given the circumstances and state of the galaxy at the time, the Jedi Order's end was inevitable

He wasn't exactly pulling 80-hour weeks on Dagobah as it was... I doubt being a Force Ghost is that much of an improvement.

No, it wasn't destroyed from within nor from any corruption or blinding arrogance. The Jedi Order was destroyed because a Sith Lord, through deception, managed to amass the power necessary to destroy not just the order through betrayal, but the democratic government too.

Besides, for more than 800 years, the Jedi Order he led and served kept the peace in the Republic. He did more for others than anyone could have asked for.

Don't ya just love when folks seem to think Jedi deserved to be murdered for essentially being outmaneuvered?

And that's when they don't blame the Jedi for not pandering to Anakin's selfish wishes and/or provide him with the easy, more seductive path. How dare the Jedi behave like Jedi?!

Er, it wasn’t like Yoda was actually willing himself to die. He legit was dying, whether he wanted to or not. If anything else, he was just saying that he did his best with what he had. Besides, he spent 800 years guiding the Republic and the Jedi Order. You can hardly fault him if a Sith Lord managed to fool him in the last 13 years of the Republic.
