Has anyone tried this program? If so, what are your opinions?

For those who have no idea...

I tried the trial version. I liked it, but I'm no expert on screenwriting programs.

Now I'm into Scriptbuddy because it's FREE.

Simply Screenplay works with Word. It's a template for Word that automatically formats the text for you.

One question for those that use it.. my macros always stop working after I open the file for a second time, anyone else have this problem or know how I can get it to stop? Thanks.

For Simply Screenplay I put the template in the C:\Documents and Settings\[name]\Application Data\Microsoft\templates folder. Then just go File, New and select Simply Screenplay.

Sometimes when re-opening files the Toolbar doesn't come up, but that's just a case of going View, Toolbars to restore it.

As for Macros - not sure. Best check Tools, Macros, Security and set it to Medium.

I've tired sophocles, final draft, some of those online ones, and Movie magic Screenwriter.

Movie magic screenwriter is the best, without a shadow of a doubt.

I have Screenforge for Word, the older Freeware version, before it became shareware. It works great

What about storyboard software? Are there any free programs available?

If there is a link posted somewhere amongst the pages and pages of these boards, I have missed it...

there's a program called movieplanner available for free, it allows you to break down a movie into scenes, and then shots, and you can attribute a storyboard to each shot,

it does a lot of stuff regarding things like props and equipment, actors, etc etc etc....

    Um.....

    more imformation is here

Yeah, thanks but I already have that one. It's great for what it is. There are many interesting features to it.

However, storyboarding software is really all I need to gather now. When it comes to drawing, I am somewhat of a perfectionist and will spend days working on a sketch. Of course, that in no way means that I am a great artist either. I have neither the time nor the patience to draw each one out. I guess you could call me lazy.

Also, I am chronically broke due to shortened work hours and a mountain of debt.

In a nutshell, thats why I was wondering whether or not there was a free or nearly free storyboarding program out there. Something along the lines of Shotmaster or Storyboard quick.

    What can I say? I'm also cheap...lol

...And another thing, apparently I somehow missed the thread titled "Freeware" above. Must have been all the whisky...

    I'll just be quiet now.

I think you would just be better off paying the cash, and getting Final Draft, IMO.

    Three things.

1 Link to movieplanner above is broken, see my sig.

2 Microsoft Word is not free (in any sense of the word). Try OpenOffice instead.

3 Movieplanner two will have some akin to a ScriptBuddy Lite.

    That is all, move along.

    P.S.

As a cute and wise young woman once told me, perfectionism = procrastination! Sometimes it's okay to vacuum only the middle!!!

Movie Magic Screenwriter is rated above Final Draft. And if you join Project Greenlight, you can get a 40% discount.
