Xizor---i hear his name a lot but dont know who he is?

 

He's the head of Black Sun.

 

That's sort of like answering a question about a word's definition with another definition.

He's from the book "Shadows of the Empire," and is the main antagonist in the book, along with the Emperor.

 

In the book he tried to seduce Leia in her quest to liberate Han.

He was Vader's rival for the Emperor's attention and he succeded several times in defeating Vader in political combat.

Shortly before ROTJ Xizor was killed on Coruscant.

No, he did catch the back side of Vaders hand though, if you know what i mean.

pick up the book it is a good read, well worth the time.

 

He didn't want to become a new Sith, if that's what you mean. Xizor just wanted to be the number 2 man in the galaxy.

Xizor was not force sensative, however he did want to eliminate Vader through political means.

Vader destroyed Xizor's family when he ordered a orbital bombardment of his planet, naturally Xizor was furious. He had the records of his families deaths erased and began to plot the eventual downfall of Vader. He got to be so powerful that he was considered the third most powerful being in the galaxy, behind the Emperor and Vader. He, however wanted to be the second most powerful. Eventually he began to have the Emperor's ear and he eventually ended up being an advisor to the Emperor himself.

When he learned of Vader's order to capture young Skywalker and bring him before the Emperor he knew there was one thing that must be done. Xizor must kill Skywalker which would discredit Vader and bump him up into the number two position. The plan almost worked, but young Skywalker did not die and Vader found out Xizor's plans to discredit Vader. An ensuing battle began between the Empire and Xizor's fleet, the Empire against a small Rebel strike force and Xizor's fleet against the small Rebel strike force. Needless to say that the Empire won and destroyed Xizor's skyhook reducing Xizor to a bunch of scattered atoms.
