    Greets,

I am starting the preliminary stages of a fan film, and have started the logistics and storyboard work.

I have heard that there is a library of sound effects from Skywalker Sound that were released for the express use in fan films.

Is this accurate? If so, how/where do I obtain them?

If not, how is everyone duplicating sounds?

I'd need things such as a tie fighter scream, saber "whoom" and misc blaster shot and blaster richochet sounds.

    Thanks in advance.

Try ripping sounds from games...best way to get fairly good quality sounds. JKII is one that I've always used and been very happy with. Oh, and even though it's a different genre, give Medal of Honour: Allied Assault a crack too...great foley sounds and things that may be of interest.

Most of the time the sounds are in some really simple kind of compression (or even just straight wav or MP3) that any un-zipping program can handle.

    Great,

Thank you all for the tips. I also found a few zip files after a few hours of digging on TFN.

I'll be sure to add my film to the collective when it's done. Best guess is April.

The game sound effects are your best bet- even if you don't have the game, you can still buy it and get the fun of playing it before ripping the files open. I found a lot of web sites' collection of sound effects are, well, let's not mince words here, crappy. Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 had a great batch of sounds that are now part of my sound farm collection. I only wish I could rip some Halo 1 & 2 sounds. . .

Basically any game that uses the Quake/Doom or Unreal
engines are a snap to pull sounds from. That means the JK series and the upcoming Republic Commando.

I used the justhome.com site too. Some very useful stuff there.

Your best guess is April for your film? Is that April 2005? The film you've just started? You don't hang about!!

I think I've got just about all the sounds I'll need.

A co-worker of mine has helepd on some short films before, and has access to non-sw related sounds.

I've found just about every sound I need, but now I'm looking for music score. I have some of it, but I'm looking for the music score usually ran during trailers (the fan fare music with all the tympani's and such)

I'm also in need of a track of Jabba's laughter.

Anyone have, or know how/where to get them?

    Thanks

    Funk-E

I have several Soundtracks on CD. :) But the one piece of score music I'd like to have isnt on any of them...

    Hence my asking around. ;-)

I have my own personal collection of lightsaber sounds so go here:

    http://www.omegadigital.org/lightsabers/

Try the one named WAPEWPEW. I couldn't find that anywhere so I had to record it off the dvd. :p

I had to take down my eye of sauron movie to put this up because I didn't want to waste my website space.

    Wadya think???
