Embrace the unorthodox toppings!
Potato Pancakes (Latkes) with Sour Cream and Applesauce!! One of the best breakfasts around!!
That's traditional Hanukkah food, however I serve it on Christmas morning ever since a Jewish friend taught me how to make them forty years ago!
Ugh no! Just no!
I haven't eaten sour cream on pancakes in years, but when I was a kid, my mom dated a guy from Czechoslovakia and he introduced this variation to us. I ate it then and it was ok (I mean, c'mon, we're still talking PANCAKES for cryin' out loud!) but sour cream is way down the list for me after berries & whipped cream, syrup & butter, lingonberry sauce, and applesauce. Even just jam, preserves, or jelly would probably be higher on that list.
I do like a good jam on pancakes; in particular, orange marmalade.
Is this thread a joke?
Both my son and grandson like peanut butter on pancakes and waffles....often their late night snack
Okay, okay. On a crepe maybe, like a real crepe, because the sugar is added later as a topping, but I don't think I would ever do that on a pancake...
