So I know from facebook some of you saw this, but I thought there should be a thread for acting like children. I live a few blocks from Griffith Park and have a balcony off the top floor of my complex. So I went out to see the shuttle and its escort flying by. Turns out it banked directly over my balcony on its way back towards Universal. AWESOME. I got to see it so up close.

Sadly I ran out without grabbing my phone or camera, but here's a picture of the contrails so you can see where it was.

Sadly, my section of the Valley (Reseda) wasn't included in this flyover. :p I did see video a bit earlier of Endeavor as it flew over the Hollywood sign... that made my day. :D

I saw it on its way to Disneyland.

    This > Apple product.

If I'd known about this before 3am last night, I would have gone to Disneyland to see it fly over there. I heard it went right by the Hollywood sign but haven't seen any pictures yet.

I work about a mile away from NASA Ames Research Center at Moffet Field. I went up on the roof with a dozen or so other people from my office to watch the flyover. This is the video I took as it flew right over our heads.

The first one I've seen. And if I wasn't so damned tired from work (I feel asleep at about 8pm, woke up at 9am), I would have woken up early today, and taken public transit to Hollywood. Oh well. :p

:_| It was supposed to fly over where I live at 9 a.m., so I went out into the parking lot to watch for it, but the flight was delayed an hour and I didn't get the update, so I missed it!!!! It flew over at 10:10 a.m.

I'm watching the live video of it arriving on CNN. I don't know why, but my eyes are getting misty.

Am I the only one suddenly and incredibly and inexplicably saddened over this? :( Who knows when will we ever see another spacecraft the likes of the space shuttle taking off to infinity and beyond ever again?

Well we won't see a government one for some time, but expect private ones much sooner than that.

Great pictures. Endeavour was the shuttle I saw launch in April 1994. Will always have a place in my heart.

It flew over USC twice, it felt almost close enough to touch it.

I saw the shuttle flyover, and it was damned cool. It felt pretty surreal seeing it in real life as opposed to just pictures in books or on the web.

If anything, I'd be sad because of the nostalgia factor of the Space Shuttle. As for when we'll see another similar spacecraft take to orbit...meh, it's just a matter of time. The Air Force has those two unmanned spaceplanes which supposedly do some of what the shuttles did, and there's also private spaceflight.

I was trying to avoid it but it demanded to fly straight over me anyways.

That sounds like an awful burden. I am sorry you had to deal with that.

Been seeing footage on BBC News of the flyovers and landing. Looked pretty impressive (and sad).

Say, those videos and pictures are pretty sick. I had to watch from afar with a pair of binoculars =(
