Special Edition release dates

does anyone know the dates the OT was rereleased in 97?

 

ANH:SE January 31, 1997

ESB:SE February 21, 1997

ROTJ:SE March 14, 1997

 

Trivial note here. But the original release of ROTJ was supposed to be about a week later than it turned out to be. That's why I love it, in the SE trailor's when Luke and Leia are on the Speeder Bikes. And Luke yells "Move closer". That and when Vader says "There will be no one to stop us this time!" I chuckle at both of those. A subtle note of defiance from Lucas to those who limited him the first time around. And a demand, of sorts, to move the release of ROTJ closer to ESB. I just love that.

 

It was actually the opposite--ROTJ was pushed back a week. It was supposed to open on March 7th i believe, but was delayed a week, i guess because it wasnt quite ready yet.

"Move farther away!"

 

My bad, perhaps. But i'll have to re-watch the VHS trailor to be sure. But, either way, you still gotta love. The new context of "There'll be no one to stop us this time!"
