So what, ultimately is the value of all this wild speculation?
"Wastes my creative energy and I can't stop (help me!)"
It is incredibly pointless, as you cannot hope to discern the precise and intrinsic value of a film based solely on press releases, photos, trailers or any such other methods of inducing hype.
But damn is it fun. And while I wish to not take part in such a thing, I know I will simply because of the deep connections I have to this franchise, and the world of filmmaking as a whole.
It is, perhaps an exercise in amphetamine-fueled masturbation. But, lackluster release be damned. It's still fun.
"Will Not affect my experience of the film"
I think it is a given that the way I see the ST going in my head will be different than what we actually get. It was the same with the PT and I still embrace it, why should it be any different with the ST.
I am eager for minor details to emerge about the ST, such as when exactly it will take place, if any one of the big 3 will be in it, and will TPTB use Ben Skywalker and Jaina Solo as the new Skywalker protagonists in the trilogy. In my mind Hamill, Fisher, and Ford are the perfect age to play the wise old sages and Ben and Jaina are the perfect age IU to be the protagonists, whether it works out that we shall see, I will embrace the ST either way.
Pointless, but harmless.
Speculation should be fun and not so emotionally invested that furies rage. Ultimately, it adds to the overall excitement which will always add to my enriched viewing pleasure.
Are we seriously speculating about speculation?
I miss the glory days of "Padme is a Sith" and "Yodafart" rumors. Speculation is the only path to this most dark side.
Its fun to read/create speculation. It builds up to the hype of a film. Although the only downside i see is that if that film does not live up to all that hype and fun then it could be a major disappointment. Here's to hoping it isn't!
It's fun, and it wastes time so we have something to talk about until they actually give us some official news!
I have no interest about speculating about things we have no knowledge of, yet.
Speculation based on actual information is fine.
As long as it works towards tempering expectations, and not solidfying expectations, it can be very constructive.
My laugh for the day.. Thank you..
