It's a deleted scene from Spider-Man 2. It was included in the extras in the DVD.

I'm down for a Venom movie too but running in circles to disconnect it from the MCU because contract reasons is ... odd.

Butttt... here's a super-amazingly well done fan film (well, put together with some bona-fide Hollywood professionals) that is Venom which actually works really well without Spidey in it. Just get these guys. Hell, just make this a feature!

‘Spider-Man’ Reboot: Kevin Feige Says Marvel Are the “Creative Producers” on the Film

During the press day for Captain America: Civil War, Collider’s own Haleigh Foutch posed this question to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, who revealed the details of Marvel’s involvement in the Spider-Man reboot:

We’re working very much [together]. It is a— I don’t know exactly what the credits will be, but it is a Sony Pictures production of a Marvel Studios film. The agreement was that it is very much a Sony Pictures movie. Amy Pascal is co-producing it with us and [Sony Chairman] Tom Rothman is leading the charge for Sony and that we are the creative producers. We are the ones hiring the actor, introducing him in this film, and then working right now on the script and soon to be shooting the actual Spidey film.”

Feige said the focus right now is on Civil War and the standalone Spider-Man picture, so plans aren’t yet in motion for further sequels in the new Spider-Man franchise, but he did say that Marvel’s deal with Sony does not specifically denote who can and cannot crossover between the franchises. Feige recently said that MCU characters will likely pop up in the Spider-Man film, but there are no contractual specifics as to which ones are allowed to weave between the films.

The Marvel Studios president also once again addressed the issue of Spider-Man’s origin story, which he reiterated will not be a focus of either Civil War or the standalone Spider-Man movie:

“We spend a lot of time as we work on these movies saying ‘Don’t take it for granted that the audience saw the other the other movies or that the audience is as versed in the comic books as we are.’ We take great pains to give you everything you need to know within the context of whatever movie you’re actually watching. However, we did say, if it’s safe to assume anything, it’s safe to assume that everybody knows how Spider-Man became Spider-Man and what that backstory was. We’ve seen it a number of times now, it’s its own well-known mythology. So we said, let’s reveal that there’s been a Spider-Man in the MCU and we meet him, as you see, in [Civil War].”

“There are events that made Peter who he was, and we’ll certainly allude to those events, but we’re much more focused on his future and how he continues to grow and have a steep learning curve after, certainly, the adventure he had in Civil War on how to be his own hero.”

From what I can tell it's just a regular Spidey mask. It only looks weird due to the fact that it's a candid photograph of a presentation.

I like that title a lot. It captures the John Hughes vibe the film is evidently going for, and the "Homecoming" font is pretty cute, with the old school Spidey face logo and all. It's like a classroom doodle.

Honestly though, it could be titled "Spider-Man: Stinky Poopy Doo-Doo" and I'd deal with it as long as the film itself is good. Spider-Man is my favorite superhero, so it's gotten me really excited to see all the praise early critic reactions to Civil War have heaped on Holland's portrayal, "best Spider-Man ever" and "best part of the film" and all that smooth jazz. I just hope they follow through instead of dropping the ball on his solo film.

The line is "what's happening hot stuff." And you guys have to cue an Asian gong sound effect to totally get the racist Asian stereotype right.

I like the subtitle of "Homecoming." As pointed out by The2ndQuest, it does have double meaning. I mean, when it was announced that Sony and Marvel reached an agreement to share the character, pretty much everyone touted that a Spider-man coming home.

The buzz about the early screenings of Civil War is that Holland's Spider-man is awesome. And I hope that's the case because I want the character to be universally loved, unlike Garfield's Spidey which as received with mixed reviews.

Well, it wasn't Garfield's Spidey that received mixed reviews (if anything, people pointed out how much better his Spidey was since he actually made quips), it was the films themselves that got mixed reviews.

Most criticism towards Garfield was of the "not Toby" variety and those who didn't understand the difference between silver and modern age versions of the character. But, generally, he and Stone were among the few things most consistently praised about the AMS series.

It won't matter how good Holland is if he ends up in a movie as bad as ASM2, though. Thankfully, with Marvel onboard properly, I can't see that happening.

Garfield was much better than Toby for a number of reasons. The quips was one; that he didn't have aspergers was another.
