Splinter of the Mind's Eye & the prequels

Sorry, perhaps I'm touching on the obvious or old news since I rarely post, but I noticed a TPM-AOTC-ep3 connection in SOTME that may or may not be coincidence:

Last page of my SOTME edition, after activating 3PO and R2 after the confrontation with Vader, Luke is told by 3PO that, "Where is [Vader]? We couldn't escape him. He knew all the proper code words and commands."

Coincidence or not, this makes an interesting point for continuity's sake for Anakin's connections with R2 in TPM and being 3PO's creator. And to think SOTME was written in 78 when the world never knew of Vader & Anakin.

Just thought I'd post this and see what others thought. Kind of adds a dimension of drama to Vader's character as he deactivates these droids that have made an impact in his early years and now reappear with his son and daughter.

 

Interesting. Probably just a huge coincidence, but still interesting.
