Seattle, WA SpoCon 2008 Guest of Honor Announced!!!

    Hey Seattle! I got to meet a few of you at C4, I had a great time btw. I just wanted to stop by and leave a quick message, I'm the Marketing Chair for SpoCon 2008, we started SpoCon to help fill the hole that InCon used to fill in Spokane. We haven't had a convention in a couple of years now, so this is really exciting. But more exciting, is that we've confirmed Timothy Zahn as our very first Guest of Honor! We're all really thrilled about it. We'd like to get a large showing of Star Wars fans, we've even got a surprise planned for Mr. Zahn at the opening ceremonies, it will require costumed imperials *hint* *hint* ;) Anyway, I hope you can all make it over for the convention, here's some basic info: the con will be August 1-3 2008, for the next 5 months pre-reg for the con will be $25 and hotel rooms are $40 per room per night, you can find out a bit more by visiting SpoCon's website.     (Spokane, WA) [i]August 15, 2007[/i] ? The SpoCon 2008 Convention Committee is pleased to announce world famous author [b]Timothy Zahn[/b] as the 2008 Guest of Honor for SpoCon. Mr. Zahn is well known for his precise writing style, often focusing on the logic of his characters over their feelings.

    Mr. Zahn is well known for his novels set in the [i]Star Wars[/i] Expanded Universe and for the creation of the Imperial character Grand Admiral Thrawn, as well as the smuggler Talon Karrde and the Imperial assassin Mara Jade. Zahn?s characters have become some of the most well-loved of the Expanded Universe.

    In addition to his numerous Star Wars writing credits, Mr. Zahn has written the [i]Dragonback[/i] young-adult science-fiction series and the popular [i]Conqueror?s Trilogy[/i], he also won a Hugo award in 1984 for his novella [i]Cascade Point[/i]. Mr. Zahn has been writing professionally since 1979.

Typically referred to as a ?full spectrum? convention, SpoCon will offer everything from Literary discussions to Table-top gaming to Computer gaming and anything and everything in between.
