Can someone give me a review for both books Shatterpoint and Darth Plagueis? I just ordered them from Amazon. Be spoiler free though.

Both extremely good but in very different respects.

Shatterpoint is perhaps the ultimate war story in the EU.

Darth Plagueis is the endpoint for the PT stories Luceno has been spinning for the last few years. While not requiring you to have read those prior books, I do think the reading experience is enhanced by having done so.

Shatterpoint is about Mace Windu's thoughts when a former apprentice goes missing. Getting into his mind was fantastic.

Shatterpoint is a novel that defines who Mace Windu is as a character. Of course you can just watch the movies or the cartoons and still understand what's going on, but to understand him you need to read this novel. It also does a good job of going into the concept of war and the Dark Side in the SW Universe.

The ROTS novel (also by Stover) is good for Windu's character

    Buy them.

Edit: I should be clearer. Buy them twice.

I consider Traitor and ROTS to be the the two jewels of SW Lit. I was pretty disappointed with Shatterpoint, it dragged on a bit too much with the details on guerrilla warfare and what not. Same thing with Darth Plagieus, there was just too much about galactic politics and economy for my liking, but it definitely gives good insight into the world of the Sith and the plans prior to TPM, as well as changing one's perspective of the movie.

They're so good that it doesn't matter that you waited until after buying them to seek out reviews.

Oh yeah I read the reviews on Amazon before buying them, but here I just wanted a spoiler-free summary of the basic storyline.

As Star Wars novels go, I'd give both of them at least 8 out of 10...

The Plagueis novel is great and puts a whole new spin on TPM.

Shatterpoint + Labyrinth of Evil + RoTS = one awesome combination...

Indispensable. Shatterpoint is Apocalypse Now, Star Wars-style. Plagueis is the book that finally makes sense out of the sometimes-awesome/often-facepalmy jumble that is the pre-TPM Sith buildup.

I really enjoyed reading Darth Plagueis. It is one of the few SW novels that deals with politics.
However, I did not like the fact that Luceno made so many references to existing EU novels/comics.
For people who are not into the EU, I would not recommend it. Although, I think it is a great novel.

Shatterpoint is one of those few novels that actually gets better over time. At first, I did not like it. Now, I do.
