    I guess with Chewie, and to an extent even the droids it would depend how far in the future the movies are set. I would think even a droid would sturggle to run well and be the same after 1000 years, more likely R2 & 3PO would have been replaced by the next generation of droids by then.

    Something like 100 years ahead would be OK if you wanted Chewie & droids in it

    Alright, I'll say it: I really don't care if the EU is utterly and irreparably thrashed and its remains jettisoned out an airlock. As many others have pointed out, a lot of it is simply terrible officially endorsed and published fanfic and only a few nuggets have been interesting. But I really don't care to see the old farts that played the Big Three return either, even in little blink-and-you-missed-them cameos.

    A new trilogy set in the far future of the GFFA would probably circumvent the dual problems of re-casting the classic characters as well as undoing the stories printed in the last 25 or so years, hopefully satisfying different set of fanboys and at the same time generating interest in the franchise for new fans that may not be particularly enamored with either of the previous trilogies.

    The longer this thread goes on, the more of that idiotic specific crap we'll have to endure eg. "Who should play Jaina Solo? Carrie Fisher is too fat* / Mark Hamill is too ugly / Harrison Ford is too aloof!" will be discussed (when we have forums dedicated to idiotic specific SW crap), rather than the initial general implications of this acquisition which is on-topic-ish for JCC.
