From another site: "I swear, I don't have the energy to listen to nerdrage about this for the next decade or so. I just don't.... I have heard enough Jar Jar Binks rants to last me a lifetime and I can't endure this again." [face_laugh]

    Holy Crap!

Couldn't they have prepared us or something?!?!?

(I guess Denning's CRUCIBLE out next year really is the end of the Big Three, then...)

Just answered during the live conference: ILM is going to stay a separate entity.

Anybody else think it's odd timing that they would announce this as a lot of the eastern part of the US is either underwater or else still recovering from Sandy?

This is quite a shock but I figured it would happen years from now. I guess time will tell if this is good or bad.

Way to buy in to George Lucas's post-millennial revisionist history. The prequels were superfluous.

"Spoiler free 'til Episode IX" doesn't have the same ring to it.

One upside to this is that we all might see official releases of the original OT. No more Jedi Rocks, Jabba @ Mos Eisley, etc.

Is it going to be a new trilogy? Or open-ended? When will it take place? Will it be animated or live-action?

I'm cautiously optimistic, and at the same time all NOOOOOOO. I guess we'll see if this turns out for the better in the long run.

the only good news that could come of this is that disney revokes del-rays involvement and puts bantam back in charge and then rewrite the EU from early Vector Prime-on lol ya right

The EU is out of the question in the sense that they are unlikely to adapt any of its works, especially post-ROTJ. The box office draw of "what actually happened to Han, Luke and Leia" is substantially weakened if they're basing it on decades-old novels. So if they do go the post-ROTJ route, huge swathes of the EU are about to get dumped in the bin labelled "Infinities".

Also, if they continue the story of Luke, Leia, etc., I won't be bothered by it.

Also, Episode VII, directed by Christopher Nolan: The Dark Jedi Rises.

As interesting as it would be see the EU, it is way to drawn out to ever be a successful film franchise.

The first thing Disney needs to do is create an animatronics George Lucas for its parks that will talk about how he "always intended" Star Wars to be integrated with Disney.

They all have a pretty good point. I associated Star Wars with Disney even before I had seen the movies as a kid because of riding Star Tours.

Is TFN ultra-slow for anyone else at the moment? Guess all the fans came out of the woodwork when the news got out.
