I bought Dark Forces yesterday. Still a great shooter.

 

I need people to stop mentioning cracking great games on GoG as I've bought too many recently and don't have the time to play the old games let alone the new ones I have

 

Nineties Star Wars games sure were something. Especially on PC, they were the best. Strangely, they somehow dropped that ball. What great Star Wars games have we had this decade?

I'm not sure I want to replay the aforementioned games. Dark Forces... Jedi Knight... X-Wing Alliance. Do they have Rebel Assault II?
I am afraid it will taint the good memories I have. Signs you are getting old.

They should re-release that TPM game. With Mat Rags, the greatest hunter the galaxy has ever known.

 

Was that the same one where you could have Qui-Gon walk through Bantha fodder and then everyone would complain about how you smelled? That game was my jam.

 

Is that the one where you could decide to go around killing everyone and a bunch of guards would come after you?

that game scared the crap out of me bc the sounds they recorded when your player died were horrific. I still remember every variation of Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon, and Padme writhing in agony as they were slaughtered, sometimes mauled into pieces.

 

Right after I posted, I went and got Dark Forces. Man. That is one blast from the past.The MIDI is nerve-racking! And the pixels are huge. And yet, no matter what they say about the EU not being canon anymore... this is the real deal. THIS is what happened to the Death Star plans.

Dark Forces and Dark Forces II were the best. I don't understand kids who say Jedi Outcast was the best. I mean, it just proves they like nothing more than the visual spectacle of Jedi. Story is... "meh" to them.

SuperWatto - The Old Republic is actually quite a lot of fun.

 

Jedi Knight was pretty fantastic, but man, if you don't know what a ysalamiri is you get confused as hell when the flag in multiplayer suddenly deactivates your Force powers. My lightsaber wielding Boba Fett was helpless.

 

I remember being pretty adamantly against Jedi Knight because they had turned my man Kyle Katarn into a Jedi. Then I actually played it and oh boy. The level design in that game was just fantastic.

 

I missed all those. I felt I was too old for video games then.

Baron's Hed was my favourite; if you used force run you could get into a small house with an easter egg - Max from Sam and Max. Of course, that OCD inclusionist Pablo Hidalgo had to make Max canon... Sigh. So glad the EU is dead.

I didn't use lightsabers unless necessary either, JTS. Kyle was more badass before being a Jedi.

 

I remember the first time I found the Max easter egg in Dark Forces, in the Anteevy mission. I couldn't stop laughing.

I did, but I think the last one I played was Monkey Island 2. That was around 1992. TPM was a bit of an anomaly, my brother had it, I didn't own it myself. But stuff like Dark Forces, Jedi Knight, it all passed me by.

 

Jesus Christ, we need something from The Force Awakens.
