how do you play KOTOR 2 on a mac

i've already googled it, so i'm banking on one of you being both an Apple ******* and a KOTOR fan.

AFAIK the only way to play PC games on a Mac is to install Windows and use that.

 

Or you know, trade the Mac in for a PC.

Well I understand your objection; gaming is so hard on PC with 100% of games for personal computer being compatible with the PC. As opposed to 0.4% on Mac.

I've got to second jp-30's link, PaulTheTall has got Mac porting down to a sweet science. I think I've encountered precisely two of his shells that didn't function as advertised - one was Neverwinter Nights 2, which took some ancient ****ing eldritch sorcery and possibly a piece of my immortal soul for me to get working I tell ya what; and the other was Deus Ex, which actually worked but needed some tweaks to get the lighting right that were easier to pull off starting from scratch. In general, though, he's got a knack for getting things to JEST WERK.

Installing the fan patch might be a bit more problematic but there are a lot of YouTube tutorials about Wineskin that can help you out.

I feel like I've had to explain this before, but basically Unix is your only OS option when you do math for a living. That leaves someone with as relatively little tolerance for custom OS shenanigans as myself either Ubuntu or Mac, and Mac is much better about not letting me destroy my hard drive when I'm using the terminal, so I went with that.

I freely admit I miss the raw compatibility with non-work programs of a PC but that's a pretty low priority for me these days.

 

i forgot to mention that modding this game is basically a prerequisite, so off to parallels (and I guess windows xp or something) it is.
