Blame AMC. They wanted 6 seasons. Vince Gilligan said the story was over after 5. AMC said "OK, we'll do two half-seasons with 11 months in between." Just another in a long line of stupid AMC executive decisions.

 

And they're only paid for one.

With sadness in my heart, I cleared the first half of season five from my DVR to make room for the Vienna Philharmonic New Year's concert.

 

Only good consequence is that we'll get 16 episodes instead of 13.

 

and now he's tweeted that he was premature with that. he says he doesn't know when it'll premiere now, just that it'll be before summer is over. damn.

 

i felt like they were rushing the first half of the season. i hope the back half isn't like that. the stately pace is one of the things that i love about the show.

 

I definitely wanted Walter to be king for more than a couple eps. That's the part that felt rushed to me; there was literally a montage that covered the months (IIRC) of it.

 

Alright, so I Netflixed the first four seasons of this series in a near marathonic manner over the holidays. Season 4 was particularly intense, leaving Walt victorious yet more morally compromised than ever. And I want MORE! Is the first part of season 5 online yet?

 

Technically, it is. *ahem*

 

It'll most likely be on Netflix when the second half starts airing.

 

Unfortunately, that's not usually the way it works with shows that air half-seasons with a break in between. It will only go up when the whole season has aired.

You can get a SD season 5 pass for $13.99. I think HD is $21.99.

iTunes is overpriced. The DVD's and Blu-rays cost a little more (and sometimes less) and have special features and you actually own a copy that isn't tied to a single company. I'd suggest other means (c'mon, you gotta know what I'm getting at since I'll just get edited if I say it outright) before it arrives on Netflix.

 

Meh... I tried downloading a torrent, and wound up with some **** on my computer that took a lot of time and effort to get rid of... then a good friend gave me an itunes gift card, so I got the season pass. Torrents aren't worth it, to me.

 

I haven't downloaded a torrent in years. There are plenty of sites where you can just watch episodes streamed.

 

Yeah if you're going to go the illegal route, there are better options than torrent.

I'm perfectly okay with the fact that I went the itunes route. I don't want to waste my time hunting for a way to watch it. itunes was quick and easy, and the gift card was from a friend, so it really cost me nothing.

 

I usually go to Side Reel. They don't actually host the videos but they provide a number of links to other sites that do for each episode of whatever TV show you're looking for.

I just want to add that I'll only go there if I miss an episode and can't watch it On Demand through my cable provider, which is what I usually end up doing. I'm not big on the whole piracy thing.

 

Yeah, I don't have cable, so my options were to either 1)wait for dvd release, 2) Piracy 3) itunes. Like I said, I tried the piracy route and wound up with some wacky **** on my computer.
