Continuing the traiditon of a new bad guy in every SW film, Lucas has finilized the character idea for a new villain in episode 4. Rumors abound that it will be Palpatine's brother or even clone. His name is 'Grand Moff Tarkin' and he will be behind the 'ultimate weapon'. We caught a glimpse of him at the end of 3.

Dude who's the actor? Almost looks like Peter Cushing. Is it that guy from III?

He's the guy we see at the end of ROTS, aboard the ship with Vader and Sidious. According to reports from Hidalgo, he's a Senate sympathizer, who will turncoat and help to destroy the Ultimate Weapon Sphere (with some help from Yoda, Bail, Panaka, Dex and Qui-Gon's ghost).

See, I hear that Dooku will return as an undead Force Vampire and this Tarkin is a bounty hunter who infiltrates the Empire in order to track him down and kill him.

Wow, Tarkin does look a lot like Peter Cushing. Maybe they'll digitaly alter stock footage of him like they did with Sir Laurence Olivier in Sky Captain.

Terrible makeup. They're obviously trying to make him look like Peter Cushing (between Christopher Lee and this, what does Lucas think Star Wars is, a horror movie?), but they did a sucky job. Between this and the crappy Alec Guiness look that Ewan McGregor is going for based on the spy pictures, great going, Lucas. [face_plain]

EDIT: On second thought, that looks too fake to be makeup. It's obviously CG. Lucas has to play with his toys, and he can't even make it look like a real person.

Well, they were playing around with some face CGI in ROTS according to the audio commentary. That's what they used to morph Palpatine's face.

It looks like they did it again to Obi-Wan and to thes "Tarkin" fellow.

    SPOILERS SPOILERS

According to Supershadow. In an attempt to bring something new to the villain scene. Tarkin will not fight with guns or swords. But rather he has the superpower of stench. He smells so bad you could come onto the biggest space station in the world and smell him right when you're brought on board even if he's miles away. How do you think his stench will be used in 1-on-1 battles?

I've heard it described as a "fowl stench." Perhaps he can use it to summon eagles.
