I hate to disappoint you Cards fans, but here are some signs that the Red Sox will win the World Series:

It's been 86 years since the Red Sox last won it; the last time the Sox were in it was 1986.

If you believe in "the third time's the charm", this will be the third time the Sox have faced the Cardinals in the World Series (the others being 1946 and 1967).

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft threw out the first pitch at Fenway Park this season. His team defeated the St. Louis Rams to win their first Super Bowl.

    And some numerology:

    1918 + Jason Varitek (#33) + Manny Ramirez (24) + David Ortiz (34) - Nomar Garciaparra (5) = 2004

    Similarly, 1918 + Curt Schilling (38) + Ramirez (24) + Keith Foulke (29) - Garciaparra (5) = 2004

If you discount those, consider that it's generally believed that the Red Sox' season turned around when they traded Garciaparra (essentially subtracting him). Also, earlier this season, a Ramirez foul ball struck a Sudbury, MA teenager who was living in the house once owned by George Herman "Babe" Ruth...this happened on the same night that the Yankees lost @ Yankee Stadium to the Cleveland Indians 22-0, the Yankees' worst loss in history.

And let's not forget that a Wild Card has won the World Series each of the last 2 seasons. The Red Sox were the Wild Card entry in the American League this season.

It should be a great series, but GO RED SOX! :p

I can add and subtract random numbers to make years too. :p

I'm just banking on the Babe setting things right again. :)

Reread my post, chiss...I made a few edits. And they're not exactly random...except for 1918 (the last year the Red Sox won the World Series), they're the uniform numbers of key players. :p

1982+27(Scott Rolen's number)-5(Albert Pujols' number)=2004 And Pujols and Rolen are right after another in the batting order. It kinda works, albeit not as well as your Nomar subtraction (seeing as how we still HAVE Pujols, and will for a long time). :p

By the way, it must suck to be Nomar. As soon as he leaves you all go to the Series. Poor guy *gives him some chowdah*

    Wildstar02301 that's streching it.

I like the Banner idea, that's what Chiss had suggested to begin with, just didn't know if it was feasible. What do you say banner and a line in your sig?

I'll propose it to the other side right now.

I say if the Cards win, those who want to participate in this bet have to put something like:

The Curse Still Lives! GO CARDINALS 2004 World Series Champions!

    and if the Sox win:

Cowboy Up! GO RED SOX 2004 World Series Champions!

    or something like that ;)

I'm keeping my signature until this series is ovah.

Sounds good too. If people from other cities (ie Bella) want get in on this too I'm all for it. More the merrier. The Banner will only go for the StL or Boston though.

    So......
    Who's in?
    I am.

I just started on the banner, but there's a few images that I want that I can't find. I want a picture of Bruce Suter throwing that sick fork ball he had. I also need a picture of the world champion trophy. You people in Boston probably don't know what it looks like. You'll get a chance to see it though in about a week when Pujols is holding it.

I'm gonna try to tie the last time we one to this time by having pictures of the old guys kind of handing it over to the new guys.
I would do it for Boston, but I don't think they had cameras back when they won it the last time.

I also need the actual St. Louis Cardinals logo.
I'll post my rough outline either tonight or sometime tomorrow.

    *laughs* Brian, that was great!

I refuse to change my signature to root for the Sox. Now, if Boston made a bet with Jersey.....that would have been different.

But, I will continue to support the Cardinals by keeping my signature as is until this series is over.

<3 Albert Pujols <3 "Money" Ramirez can't even compare to him.

St. Louis is going to take it all in seven. The Sox can't match up except for pitching.
    GO CARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was a very close game. The Sox pitching held up and ours didn't. It is going to be one bumpy ride thru seven. All in all, it was a very good game.

    Well game 2 tonight.

I hope Womack will be alright to play tonight. I hate to see someone not able to play getting all the way up to the WS. But I hear he should be back in game 2 tonight.

I hope Schilling can keep the Cards bat a little more silent tonight.
Schilling is getting the duct tape out again for the ankle. The man is unbelievable.

Getting his skin sutured down in the tendon area a procedure they say is new and it has been working for Schilling.

I hope the Cards won't resort to bunting against Schilling in order to get Schilling to tear his suture trying to field the bunt. Then I would kind of loose some respect for the team. But even if that happens. I have confidence in the Red Sox bullpen.

Hey, even though the Sox beat the Yankees, that shirt still is correct. When you win the World Series....maybe we'll talk about it.

Boston is a bunch of scaredy cats, not pitching to Pujols last night. He'll own them by the end of the Series.
