I hate to disappoint you Cards fans, but here are some signs that the Red Sox will win the World Series: It's been 86 years since the Red Sox last won it; the last time the Sox were in it was 1986. If you believe in "the third time's the charm", this will be the third time the Sox have faced the Cardinals in the World Series (the others being 1946 and 1967). New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft threw out the first pitch at Fenway Park this season. His team defeated the St. Louis Rams to win their first Super Bowl. And some numerology: 1918 + Jason Varitek (#33) + Manny Ramirez (24) + David Ortiz (34) - Nomar Garciaparra (5) = 2004 Similarly, 1918 + Curt Schilling (38) + Ramirez (24) + Keith Foulke (29) - Garciaparra (5) = 2004 If you discount those, consider that it's generally believed that the Red Sox' season turned around when they traded Garciaparra (essentially subtracting him). Also, earlier this season, a Ramirez foul ball struck a Sudbury, MA teenager who was living in the house once owned by George Herman "Babe" Ruth...this happened on the same night that the Yankees lost @ Yankee Stadium to the Cleveland Indians 22-0, the Yankees' worst loss in history. And let's not forget that a Wild Card has won the World Series each of the last 2 seasons. The Red Sox were the Wild Card entry in the American League this season. It should be a great series, but GO RED SOX!
