For those that know, and for those that don't a great man and exceptional artist has passed our midst today. And as the character he portrayed in "To Kill a Mockingbird," Gregory Peck deserves the respect that phrase denotes.

And I believe moment of reflection on his accomplishments is due. Thanks.

Gregory Peck dies at age 87

'To Kill...' was one of those books I enjoyed before I even cared much for reading and the movie was quality. Yes, to all that pass of once great standing, shall they stand great in memory.

I can't believe I missed this a couple of days ago.

Buddy Ebsen, probably most familiar as Jedd Clampett on The Beverly Hillbillies, and the title character in Barnaby Jones, died Monday at age 95.

Wooooooo-dawgy. Off to that great moonshine still in the sky.

    RIP.

    Sheesh, they're droppin' like flies...

Barry White, legendary crooner of the sultry, basso love tunes, died Saturday. He was 58.

It was once reported by researchers that upon playing his songs to whales, they mated much more actively.

Farewell to the Love Machine himself.

Yesterday evening marked the passing of an iconic entertainment legend. Bob Hope passed away at the centennial age of 100.

    Quotes:

"I have seen what a laugh can do. It can transform almost unbearable tears into something bearable, even hopeful."

"You know you are getting old when the candles cost more than the cake."

"When we recall the past, we usually find that it is the simplest things - not the great occasions - that in retrospect give off the greatest glow of happiness."

"Middle age is when your age starts to show around your middle."

"If you watch a game, it's fun. If you play it, it's recreation. If you work at it, it's golf."

"If you haven't any charity in your heart, you have the worst kind of heart trouble."

"I like to play in the low 70's. If it gets any hotter than that I'll stay in the bar!"

"Bigamy is the only crime where two rites make a wrong."

"A bank is a place that will lend you money if you can prove that you don't need it."

Rest in Peace, O Master Entertainer...

This has been passed to me from a source that I have as yet been unable to verify or corroborate. Hopefully it is in error.

"The family and friends of legendary actor Charles Bronson are gathering together after The Dirty Dozen star was given only days to live. Death Wish star Brosnan has been fighting Alzheimer's Disease for the past two years, and suffered organ failure earlier this month. Doctors tending to the 81-year old have told his family to prepare for the worst and say their last goodbyes to the star. A relative tells British tabloid The Sun, "(The Alzheimer's) is heartbreaking. He doesn't know he was an actor, let alone a big star." The Great Escape actor's wife Kim is now making final preparations to bring him home to die as he requested. A friend adds, "Charlie's wife Kim promised him she would honor his wish to let him die with dignity.""
