That's Kirk, always in the thick of things and cool.

 

Calm, cool, and collected as usual.

 

Quick yet good! Very nice look into Kirk's world.

 

LOL Theme this time is unwinding activities.

Fencing? ... Not for me, and certainly not the strenuous workouts of Mr. McLorian, our resident maestro of culinary arts.

Chess and 3D games were more my style of after-shift winding down with friends.

With female companionship, completely different options opened themselves up, according to the lady's preference, if we were on shore leave, etc.

Surprisingly, to those who might not believe it, I have a taste for live musical and classical theater.

It's very interesting seeing how varied and diverse cultures interpret timeless and universal themes of choice, love, friendship, and family interplay.

After viewing such, there is an endless and even more intriguing exchange of opinion.

Definitely a smooth operator.

 

Kirk loves the finer things of life but he has to be careful (Florian's McLintlock's culinary delicacies aren't good for appearance)

Strange, when one of the crew is "laid up" and flat out with an injury/illness, it hits me harder than the medical staff. I wonder could I have prevented this, ameliorated it somehow or other? I know such mind-puzzling is pointless after the fact, but still...
The fact that this happens is not the strange unusual part. It is when it is Nyota that is puzzling - because the emotion is more personal, somehow. I think of her like a sister.
(Perhaps not so strange, after all.)

We get her back from near-misses more times than I want to count and I shudder to think.

Spock is almost ... not quite ... but just about as makes no difference - prostrate with apprehension. It is only his consummate skill and professionalism and driving need to get her back unharmed and restored that makes him (if possible) even more efficient than typically.

I teased her after one such occasion,
"You are a trouble magnet, do you know that?"

She chuckled softly. "Who's talking?"

"Hey, I should know." I rejoined, and she laughed again.

The sparkle in her eyes was assuring in and of itself.

"Wanna get my return to work status?" She asked. "Purely speaking, I'm ready as soon as I get the clearance."

"Yes, but I also wanted to check on you for myself." I answered.

"Surprised Spock isn't keeping a vigil." She commented thoughtfully.

"He was, until a few hours ago. Shift rotation is about to transition."

She gave a smile. "Glad to hear he was worried about me."

I answered: "Hmm. In his own inimitable way."

She sighed. "Makes me wonder what I ever saw in him." The adoration and amusement in her voice proved the statement was sheer snark, which we both well knew.

I clasped her hand briefly in relief and appreciation of her ready wit.

"Hey!" McCoy teased coming in at that moment. "Whatcha doing, Jim? Making a move on the lady?"

"I know better!" I exclaimed in all seriousness.

"Yes, he does." She remarked and smirked. "No headway. Not a bit."

I laughed and exited so the doctor could perform an exam.

After reviewing the prognosis report, I sent my exec in as soon as the report came up on my screen.

"You can see her now. I know you're more than ready to." I observed, with a smile.

He quirked a brow at me. "Now, what would lead to that impression, may I ask?" He asked in complete aplomb.

I laughed. "Cool the "huh?" routine." I said with a wink.

He exited the bridge with alacrity.

Jim and Nyota's friendship is my very favorite I love his brotherly concern and all the teasing!

 

He's such the Trek version of a Thrawn with cause. Due and just cause!

 

When I dated Christine, we had the backdrop of being colleagues. There was a warmth and ease between us but nothing like the instant's spark that occurred with the auburn-haired, tawny-eyed Audrey Pearce, who came for a temporary stint as Security and Intel specialist.

She and Nyota Uhura hit it off quickly, and I heard them laughing in the rec lounge one evening as I approached. Nyota rose and smiled. "My cue to leave," She winked, and said to Audrey: "Don't forget what I said."

Audrey grinned. "I won't, Ny."

I settled next to Audrey as Nyota made her way to Yolette and Sulu.

"So... dare I ask what that was all about?"

"Not everything's about you, you know." Audrey tossed, then smirked, "Although this was. I admitted to Nyota that I had noticed your interest in me and shared it and would not object if you ... although I told her you were a nerf-herder."

I laughed outright. "Thank you!"

"She said you were a nice one, however." Audrey added, smiling, clasping my hand. "I could do worse but hardly better, since her own love was taken."

"That is one besotted lady." I observed wryly.

She grinned.

"So, what do you say, we give it a go?"

I smiled.

"I'd like that, Audrey. Instead of seeing me as a nerf-herder only, one day soon I'd like to remind you of a guy who dated a lady named Valeria."

"Valeria?" Audrey mused. "Where have I heard that name?"

"Just think about it a second." I said. "It'll come."

Her eyes lit. "Captain Matt!" She exclaimed. "Oh yes. Yes, Jim, you certainly are quite like our dashing, charming Captain Ruudh."

He qualifies being a lovable, reckless type.

 

'Rey and I slipped so effortlessly into a warm and bantering relationship. It was so easy to talk to her and her warm eyes would take on this entirely absorbed expression as she listened intently.

I grew to value her more and more as a friend. I did not take her trust or respect lightly.

Any sparks that might be growing between us was icing on the cake.

Things were feeling good and fine between us when she came to me - what felt like out of left field - although to be fair, she was startled by the change too.

She had a personal request. I had to consider it, as her CO, but even moreso - her friend.

It was frankly a conflict of interest to the romantic side of things.
