This pairing is like chicken soup for the lover's/author's/fan's soul LOL And this prompt lent itself to that tone exquisitely.

 

That was delicious like a high school drama. Minus the high school. Also, minus the drama.

 

"Sarek I've been having dreams ... very vivid dreams about us, doing the most amazing, intimate things." Amanda confessed one evening, blushing. "I assure you that's not the sort of thing which customarily happens to me and that is certainly not reflective of my opinion of you, although I do find you extremely attractive and ..."

"A subsidiary effect of this bond that's forming." He explained. "I can instruct you in various methods of boundary strengthening between us and to make the connection between us what one would consider permeable but yet not as accessible."

She agreed. The "lessons" were fascinating and made their connection intimate moreso and also it felt so incredibly vulnerable to have this "shared space".

Amanda never questioned whether or not she wanted what was happening. It was as senseless as asking if you wanted the moon to pull the tides. The more she spent time with Sarek, the more essential he became ...

Their formal joining was awe-inspiring! It was like two halves becoming a whole, yet you were still yourself, but richer somehow.

Sarek asked her if she missed the moonlight, one late evening. She grinned and said "You're enough romantic inspiration, sweetheart."

In point of fact, those earlier dreams she'd had -- he surpassed all expectations which those had stirred.

Hi there! Thanks. The truncation issue is a good excuse to revamp and repost LOL And I think the NSW thing has permanently grabbed my writer's inspiration.

 

I agree wholly and am chuffed that there was no wibbly-wobbly indecisiveness or crazy hemming and hawing for this pairing or for their son when his soul-mate arrived. The deepest tragedy would've been if either of these relationships were a could-have-been. There but for the grace of God, literally. <3

 

"Nyota." I breathe against her pulse point, softer than a whisper of a breeze in early spring.

"Hmmm." She purrs happily.

Also purrs happily.

 

Note: A very interesting moment fraught in the first instance and squeelicious later.



Amanda scowled. "Why would you insist our son follow the tradition and take a pre-selected mate? You didn't hold with archaic mores, Sarek! You stepped beyond the bounds of what is demanded and made a choice based upon a particular sort of logic. One that I believed, until now, was beyond reproach. Or are you somehow convinced that Spock has to be ultra-Vulcan to prove his worthiness?" Amanda's eyes were flashing with a mother's indignation. "Or do you feel your choice of me was somehow a flawed one?"

Sarek was braced against the onslaught of her barbs but met them staunchly and said quietly: "Neither of those things. Our families are merely connected by blood and through mutual ties of reciprocal ... for lack of a better term, favors or beneficial acts."

"I suppose that will have to suffice as a reason." Amanda said wryly after a moment.

Sarek's eyes glinted with amusement at her snark.

"If they two should come to be incompatible or if either of them should wish to reneg?" Amanda demanded.

"That option will be included in the contract. That is a prudent and sensible suggestion." Sarek said, reaching out to grasp Amanda's shoulders.

Amanda grimaced at herself, then chuckled.
"Why can I never stay aggravated with you?" She asked melting against him.

His hands caressed her waist.
"Ashal-veh. That is one of your indisputable charms." He replied, and she laughed.

Later, when Amanda had cause and occasion to hear of Nyota and speak with her, see the way the lovely lady and Spock interacted with one another even on a nonverbal level, she confided in Sarek with a low, satisfied laugh:
"T'Pring is what they call - history, sweetheart. I like the one Spock has chosen - much better. She seems - well-suited."

Sarek did not sense an I told you so in Amanda's pleasure, merely and completely serene certainty concerning Spock's well-being and future happiness.
"It appears he is continuing with the tradition I started. A fine and excellent one it has proven to be."

Yay, more brilliant ficlets for me tonight! The whole lot is adorable. I particularly enjoy the back-and-forth between pieces about Sarek/Amanda and Spock/Nyota and how they mirror each other. And I love this sort of fragmentary writing, where a single word three posts later is winking at you and asking, "remember"?
