    Stealth-Xs, hmmmmm?

Anyway, I think having a Luke-Leia divide, especially in this time period, could be an interesting route to take.

    Hah, Executor.

Well, guess that means this is definitely *after* CSW and the joint attack on Yavin with Admiral Griff. That's basically what people in that other thread -- forget which one -- were saying, so that works.

Why, Miss Executor! How do you do! Isn't it a little early for you to be at this party?

I prefer to call her by her nickname, Miss Cutie. It's a bit more demure a name than her sister, Lady Lucy.

Yes, I hear Lady Lucy drops her lift-girdle at the earliest opportunity. Scandalous!

I hear Lucy likes it in the undercity, if you know what I mean.

Leia is a diplomat. I really don't see her taking part of "agressive negotiations".
Wouldn't it be better if Wedge (or another hotshot pilot) were the one to create a special starfighter unit?

She is part of a commando team in Ep 6 as you might recall and an excellent shoot , also she has certain technical expertise, which we see when she helps fix the Falcon. :) Plus older stories already had her flying fighter craft several times.

Well, I most often hear and use either Lady Ex or the more gender neutral Big E.
It could be worse though, she could be the Big Easy.

"Lady Ex" just makes me wonder if Excellence got married. :p

edit: And Big E is the real-life U.S.S. Enterprise, no? Wouldn't want to use that!

There can be only one Big E. That title will forever belong to USS Enterprise. Whether CV-6, CVN-65, or the upcoming CVN-80, that grand old title is forever owned by Enterprise. [face_flag]

"Han Solo has a very strong feeling he won't survive this."

Oh no! Will Han and Chewie survive to star in the next movie!?

This is a big pet peeve of mine...putting the heroes you know survive in situations where the narrator/narrative try and milk the (non-existent) suspense over their survival.

And instead you'd prefer? Perhaps something like:

"Rest easy, reader, Han's alive in a book set 30 years on and Chewie gets a moon dropped on him 20 years down the line - neither of them die today!"

The relevant Q is not: Do they survive? It's: How do they survive? How do they escape?

Now, with that being so, maybe it's not for you? That what you actually need is more DotJ, Legacy, Lost Tribe, TOR, as those'll likely have the required level of actual jeopardy and unpredictability you appear to be seeking.

Or maybe the author could actually do something original and treat the readers maturely, and instead of putting characters we all know survive in peril, write storylines that still feature them but save the peril for characters who aren't protected by invulnerable character shields? And if the question was merely "how they survive and how they escape" I wouldn't mind it. But the narrative text is clearly, blatantly trying to make it seem like their very survival is in peril. That's the problem I have with it.

But I guess I'm just being a jerk for not wanting to be subjected to predictable cliches! Thanks for your snarky tone too, that really added a lot to the conversation! Also thanks for letting me know what it is I'm looking for in a story, I clearly had no idea before now!
