The concert I was going to has been cancelled! I'm sort of heartbroken. Something about limited number of plane flights for the crew to get in and out of. I won't be able to see it since Pensacola, FL, is only about 2.5 hours away, and the next closest location is 6 hours away. It seems like my area never gets cool stuff like this, and now this slips right through our fingertips.

Long before there was ever any mention of a Star Wars concert tour, I had always thought of how incredible it would be to hear the music in person. On May 25th I will finally have my chance, as the tour comes to my neck of the woods. I was planning to drive to Tucson (4 hours away) before they announced a stop here in far, far west Texas.

I actually felt the hair on the back of my neck stand up while just reading some of the reviews here! I truly can't wait! ...I even have backstage passes and a meet and greet with Mr.C3PO himself! [face_dancing]

Yeah, saw it last night. The exhibits were kinda lame-o, but the SWSO and Mr. Daniels certainly impressed.

Although I almost flipped out when the first piece was "Dark Forces Conspire", which I originally saw on 'Star Wars: A Musical Journey', the 2nd disc to the ROTS OST, in 2005. "I BETTER NOT HAVE PAID 35 DOLLARS AND DRIVEN 280 MILES FOR A REENACTMENT OF SOMETHING I SAW ON MY COMPUTER 5 YEARS AGO!" :p

I personally thought the 'Droids' sequence was the best one. Bit sad that 'The Dark Side Beckons' didn't make it in, but I suppose a forty-second or so bit of music is kinda stretching for this.

This show was an amazing expierence!!!

I had watched almost the entire show on youtube before I went (I just couldn't wait), and even though I knew what Mr. Daniels was going to say at some parts, like "but the odds of successfully navigating an astroid field are 3,720 to 1!!!" it was still sooo different actually seeing it live and in person. I didn't even have floor seats or a M&G and I was still star-struck being in the same room as Anthony Daniels, C3PO! it was my first time seeing a Star Wars Star up close.
I loved the entire concert, my favorite pieces were "A Hero Falls", "An Unlikely Allience", and "A Jedi Is Trained".

The exhibit, I was expecting it to be a lot bigger but I was still very impressed with the artifacts on display. At my show everybody went around the lobby in an organized line, taking turns getting pictures with the models, it was not as bad as what some people previously had said. They were all spread out in a cool way where the line could go one way through. I guess my venue knew how to handle things better than others might have. I had no trouble getting up close to the HAN SOLO CARBONITE BLOCK, definately my favorite! I was also impressed by the sheet music written on by John Williams.

At my show there were 501st guys walking around, I got my picture with a Darth Vader, Princess Leia, A pilot, and a Storm Trooper (who was really short, baha) :)

I would definately pay go see this show a second time, the only thing I regret about going is not getting the VIP tickets, they are no doubt worth the price.

Actually, that's covered in the podcast. Also, Cait gives some great insight into how well the deception works reguarding the identity of Darth Sidous vs Chancellor Palpatine. We always wondered how that would play to a person who didn't know going in that they were the same person.

    Review

This is a must see if you love Star Wars music. 10/10

Stay for the second Imperial March encore, everybody got up to leave, and they did the encore.
The parade of flags from TPM is a powerful piece live.
The Musicians seem to enjoy their work, this is full professional orchestra with full choir.

I highly recommend it, the live Storm-trooper and Boba Fett posing with the kids is a huge draw, the kids love it.
If you can afford to see this it is well worth it, I almost never go to concerts, because I have no interest in them.
But nothing beats live symphony, especially if it's music you like.
The Imperial March live is on par with many of the great symphony pieces from the past, it's that good, and the encore one is even better than the first.

Just got home from an excellent performance. I paid $65 for the ticket, but only had to drive 50 miles.

I knew going in not to expect much "score", rather mostly concert arrangements. I certainly would have traded "The Forest Battle" concert suite for even an abbreviated "Battle Of Endor II" (with Dark Side Beckons and The Emperor's Death, of course). I was pleasantly surprised by the "Droids" sequence and "The Dune Sea Of Tatooine/Jawa Sandcrawler" as well in this regard. Now that I think about it, I'm surprised we didn't get the "Lament" ("Anakin's Betrayal"). I was also briefly worried that this was simply a live recreation of the bonus disc from the ROTS soundtrack, but it turned out to be much more and much better. My only quibble was that there was just a little too much dialog - e.g. there was talking over the French horn in "Binary Sunset". Still, an awesome experience. Superb musicianship, and hearing "The Imperial March" live certainly kicks ass.

Is the "Droids" piece you guys are talking about the same as the one I watched on YouTube that's just clips of R2 and 3PO over the Jawa sequence music from the SW soundtrack?

I'll be going this Sunday here in Raleigh NC. I just got an email from the RBC Center (the venue) that says:

"Camera Policy - No Professional Cameras (no detachable lenses), Standard Point-and-Shoot Only*| No Video.

*Cameras permitted in exhibit area only, no photos may be taken during the performance. "

The part that bugs me is the detachable lens part. When will people realize that a detachable lens does not mean that you are a professional? Heck, most point & shoot cameras have a tighter zoom than my main SLR lens. I had been hoping to get some actual good photos of the props.

Has anyone who has gone to the show been able to bring a DSLR with a basic lens on it?

It's a great show. Saw it back in March. Daniels was on top form, light show and lasers were awesome.
    Definitely recommended.

I saw it last night and I am still speechless. It was the most amazing thing I have ever seen. There was so much effort and emotion put into every aspect of the show, from the editing of the footage to Anthony Daniels' top-notch performance! (I was only ten rows up from the stage, and C-3PO himself! [face_hypnotized] )

The lasers were fantastic. The entire crown "oooed" and "ahhhed" whenever they shot across the stadium. The picture on the screen was so clear I could barely believe it. The OT footage looked like it opened in theaters this year, and the PT footage looks like you were actually there. The orchestra was phenominal. The entire experience was so gripping I forgot more than once I was at a concert and not in the Star Wars galaxy itself!

The exhibit was the icing on the cake. I couldn't breathe while I was taking (several!) pictures with Kit Fisto!!!! And the Royal and Senate guards were awsome to see, too, as well as every other costume there! It was also amazing to see the concept art from the movies.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I will never forget. If the show is coming anywhere near you, you should absolutely go. I can't describe in words how amazing it was, and how much fun I had! 11/10 stars!

Saw the show on 22 July 2010 at Mohegan Sun Arena. Just phenomenal. Great music, is just better live. I think that others in the crowd read this comment because she got a cheer at our performance too. Did not miss any notes that I noticed. But she did get a big grin on her face when we cheered for her!

That happened during the show I saw. When it ended, and everyone was walking out of the stadium and the musicians were picking up their instruments, I shouted "GO TRIANGLE LADY" at the top of my lungs. That got me some big laughs. [face_laugh]

I've seen the show twice - awesome experience

There's a song that plays during the end credits. I think maybe its a Beatles song but I don't know the name. Could anyone help me out and identify it?

    Thanks

At the concert I went to, they played "Space Oddity" by David Bowie after the lights went up.

So that was after the encore, General Kenobi? I'm jealous. We only got the Imperial March encore. I wasn't sure we would even get that. People got up and started leaving as soon as the show ended (before the encore). The encore was played to a half empty house, with people leaving throughout.

Also didn't help that the casino (or their rival, Foxwoods) had fireworks during the show.

Even despite that, it was an awesome show. I want to see it again.
