Actually, yeah, giant Star Wars logo and "Aftermath" is kind of starkly badass. Probably better than the bad photoshop jobs some of the other covers have been.

I actually like that cover as it is. Just the pure black background works for the fact that we're currently moving into the unknown, everything is completely blank and fresh, kind of like a map that has yet to be filled in after exploration. The contents of the novel within then begin to create the image.

The stark nature of the temp cover does kinda evoke something...

I think it was 30 minutes- but only because I also had to mock up the comparison images. ;)

What The2ndQuest isn't telling you is that he was the person in charge of the cover artwork for Del Rey. So he was just showing everyone how he did it.

"Cover not final" is an intriguing subtitle. Sounds like a great spy caper! I wonder how many novels are in this Aftermath series?

Star Wars: Aftermath I: Cover not Final
Star Wars :Aftermath II: Cover Blown
Star Wars: Aftermath III: The final blow

Yeah, better cover than Millennium Falcon. :p

But still, seriously, I wonder what the actual cover will end up being. I'm personally dreading the idea that it's something like Crucible only with young!Luke, Leia, and Han. That doesn't have any say on the content of the book, of course, but I'd like an actually good book cover. On the other hand, if you look at the five books that have been or will be released since the Legends announcement, they've all had pretty good covers; no Photoshop except for maybe on Heir to the Jedi, and even Dark Disciple's vaguely emo vibe is still better than FOTJ because at least this is actual art.

And I need an author announced yesterday.

I would assume they're saving some of these author/title announcements for C7 next month.

    Also: water is wet.

To be fair, this is a continuity where Simus existed. The original head in a jar.

This is rather funny and ironic given some discussion going on in the Star Wars #3 thread about
Overseer Aggadeen and his apparent decapitation and subsequent incineration in SW #3, only to reappear more or less intact in DV #1.

    Not even
Even better, Maw set the precedent in surviving bisection with pure hatred in Dark Forces 2. My friend loves DF 2 but hated TCW, when he was ranting to me about how dumb Mauls revival was I brought that up to him and his mine just sort of fizzled out at the releasation.

There is one massive difference between Maw and Maul that allows me to accept Maw but not Maul. Maw had people around to offer immediate aid, while Maul fell down a shaft all alone with no one to help him.

But Maul was much more powerful than Maw

I don't care how powerful Maul is, a sai tok bisection and a fall down a bottomless shaft isn't something to be trifled with.

Obviously not, or he would still be falling.

I was going to make a long post about how a pit literally cannot be "bottomless" because at some point it would reach the planet's core, go a little beyond, gravity would reverse, and then you'd just fall back the other way for a while, and then hit the other side of the core again and, once again, gravity would reverse and you'd fall the other way, so the closest thing to a bottomless pit would be a pit where you can't quite reach the bottom because of gravity, but the bottom would still have to exist.

And then I realized how much of a huge nerd posting that would make me.

And then I realized that I posted it anyway, just now. [face_plain]
