I know what you mean, TicTac. Ever since I started to become more exposed to Anime music videos, I've had a few ideas of mixes that would be rather cool to try out. However, I've seen a few websites that show the equipment needed to properly edit music videos. Gah! It's almost enough to rival a typical console at N.A.S.A. Oh well, I can always take pleasure in watching other people's products.

Congratulations, Allya! :D I hope your job treats you well, and pays you even better. Heheheheh! But yes, actually receiving money on a regular basis does help with the cause of purchasing Anime related goods. Soon I'll be ordering another soundtrack for my collection, once I have this next paycheck. It'll be the second volume of the "Hellsing" soundtrack. The rest of my orders are for soundtracks for obscure Horror movies I've enjoyed for a while.

Time for the weekend report! First off, I got things off to a rollicking start Saturday. Oddly enough, that seemed to be my vampire-theme day, as well. It began with watching the rest of "Hellsing" at Artemis' house. The ending of the series left us with a few questions to discuss, but the general impression is we were both pleased with the series as a whole. (I almost want to say Incognito was SLIGHTLY cooler than Alucard. But only slightly, for the man in red is still quite excellent. :D) After that, we visited a nearby international market, where she helped me find... POCKY!!! Yay! Now we have a definite source for our Pocky cravings. Finally, we started watching the first volume of "Master of Mosquiton". I thought the series was more hilarious that it originally intended, because after seeing such a serious vampire Anime like "Hellsing", I couldn't help but draw comparisons. However, thanks to "Mosquiton", I have an idea of what I want to dress up as for next year's J.A.F.A.X. convention, on the Sunday of the weekend anyway. But my fun didn't end on Saturday. For yesterday I watched the sixth volume of "Outlaw Star". It still ended on a cliffhanger, but it at least have the major conflict of episode 12 resolved. (Is it just me, or does anyone else here find Harry McDougall rather cool?) After that, I spent some time spitting and cursing at my community college website. But calmed down afterwards, reading some more of Artemis' "Revenge" arc collection, from the "Kenshin" manga. My reading seemed to go by in a rush, since the volume I read was so fast-paced. I like, I like!

Harry is my favorite character! ^_^ I guess I just have a thing for psychotic bad guys, especially ones with Winter coloration. I don't know what it is, but I've never seen one that I didn't like ^^; Clive, Harry, Dilandau, Sesshou-maru....

    Well, right now, I'm waiting for my copy of Escaflowne to be flown in from Singapore. To weather my anime drought, I've been re-watching my copies of the Tenchi OAV's, and have decided that Cut is no longer good enough, and I want to get the Uncut. I also went to see the Croc Hunter movie today, which is entirely unrelated to anime, but it was very amusing ^^;

I think what got me hooked on Harry was when he had his neural interface shot off by Gene. Seeing Harry whine and rant in a psychotic fashion was one of the best highlights I've seen on "Outlaw Star" to date. :D (Well, either that or whenever Aisha Clan-Clan shows up. She has certainly earned her reputation as one of my favorite overall Anime characters.)

I only have a few notes of Anime-related activity for this weekend. (I know, TECHNICALLY today is still part of the weekend, but I don't see myself doing much with Anime today, unless they have some good graphic novels at a library I'm planning on visiting, or at my nearby Walden's.) First off, I got a start on next year's J.A.F.A.X. costume by buying one game zapper from a local video game retailer. (It's for an Alucard costume, from "Hellsing".) Now I just have to track down another zapper, start painting them with model paint, and get to work on the etchings on the zappers. As if that wasn't enough for creative work, I also managed to practice some drawing in the evening. I turned out a rather nice portrait of Zaha Torte from "Sorcerer Hunters". My co-workers can expect me to put a drawing up on the dry erase marker board VERY soon. :D Aside from that, I do have some orders coming in, but they're as far off from Anime as you can get. (They're soundtrack C.D.s for some horror movies. Hey, I can still have my old interests in mind! ;)) And I did spend a good deal of time talking about Anime findings and opinions with Artemis last night. :) So, toodle-o for now, my swinging cats.

Aisha Clan Clan rules! I love anime! Does anyone watch Tenchi Muyo/Universe/in Tokyo? Washu is the best character in all of the Tenchi series. I've also just gotten hooked on Rurouni Kenshin. OrrrooOoOOo!

And Harry just gets better and better... All the anime psychos do. Is it any wonder that I love them so much? *hugs every single anime psycho she can get her hands on* Aw...

    i haven't seen spriggan...

    hi everyone.

new anime news: i am now hooked on princess nine. in a matter of a week i went out and got all 5 dvds. now i'm just waiting for the last one to be released. it's pretty cheap for anime (15 at best buy). parts of the plot are not really original, but it's still a pretty good baseball series. and the opening song is catchy.

i ordered the soundtrack to princess nine. just waiting for it to arrive. same goes for the soundtrack to read or die.

btw read or die rocks. you should all go out and get it. the dvd is so so cause it's a chinese one so i get the feeling that they skimped (since various spelling errors occur. and part of the second episode isn't subbed in chinese or english!). it's short. 3 eps but it's very unique and original.

i'm gonna finally get vampire princess miyu vol.1 of the oav since it's on sale (by like 2 bucks) at right stuf.

i got a few pencil boards which haven't come. and i'm waiting on the second miyu oav artbook. it's really slow shipping. i'm kinda annoyed.

    that's about it.

Looks like I can get away with some diarrhea of the mouth today. :D

Teemto, I have only seem some of "Tenchi Muyo", but it was enough to get me interested in seeing a lot more eventually. And I do agree that Washu is great. Alas, she is no Ryoko. ;) Ah, and we have a new "Kenshin" convert. The series has to be one of my all-time favorites. Currently I'm thinking about getting into some of the volumes after the "Kyoto" arc.

Allya, I thought you actually finished watching "Escaflowne" a while ago. Oh well, maybe that bit of info slipped past my astonishing attention span. ;) But I still rank Dilly-chan as an absolute favorite character. Still, don't you mean poor little girl? *Giggles* But best watch out about the Anime Psychos. I wonder how Kurogasa or Father Anderson would react to such a show of affection. [face_devil]

Alas, Die_Jedi_Dogs, the only way I could see "Spriggan" is on D.V.D., and I'm still in the Stone Age, where I rely on my V.H.S. However, maybe if I ask Artemis nicely enough in the future, we could consider viewing it at her house. I'd love to see it eventually.

Welcome back, TicTac. :D I admit to having a tiny bit of curiousity over "Princess Nine". Ever since reading some of "Harlem Beat", I realized that Japanese sports comics could be interesting. I'm still waiting for my zombie movie soundtracks. (If they take much longer, Shocking Images can kiss my business goodbye after this order is done.) I'm still considering ordering the second "Hellsing" soundtrack, though. And Artemis has told me about "Read or Die" before. Hmmm... if I remember correctly, she did say she had some episodes saved on her computer. Maybe the next time we have a date, I could ask if I could see some of them. As for your shipping problems, all I can say is exercise patience. Then the joy of receiving your items will be all the sweeter. :)

Finally, I move on to my own news. First off, this weekend was the weekend of PAINFULLY funny Anime. Artemis and I busted a gut Saturday watching the second volume of "Master of Mosquiton". Man, Camille Inaho Carmilla is one... dedicated woman. ;) Before I went out with her, I read some Manga, which included the first volume of the "New Hope" adaptation, and the third volume of "Inu-Yasha". Then yesterday afternoon, I skipped out on more "Outlaw Star" for something different. I instead rented "Super Deformed Double Feature". I have this to say about it; if you love "Dragon Half", you WILL love this video. :D (Artemis, if you're reading this, don't be surprised if I rent this one again so I can show you it.) It was a collection of two super deformed features. The first was "10 Little Gall Force". Essentially it was a "behind the scenes" look at the making of "Gall Force", and it nearly made my jaw dislocate in laughter. That has two shorts at the end of the feature, featuring a mock-mentary featuring the creator of "Gall Force", along with a Japanese preview of "Gall Force 3". After that, we had "Scramble Wars". It featured a ton of Anime characters in a road race. (In the setting of "Gaiarth", to boot!) It had appearances from "Gall Force", "Bubblegum Crisis", "Genesis Survivor Gaiarth", and I SWEAR "Riding Bean". And that was equally as funny. The great thing about this video is, even if you haven't seen the features they were based off of, the two features were funny enough on their own. If anyone here can find a copy, I highly recommend it for a good dosage of sillines. Chao for now!

Nah, Celena is a girl. Dilandau is a boy ^_^

Anyway, I'm fresh from Otakon 2002, so time for me to do a Con report.
I got there mid-afternoon, and realized that I had no idea where my hotel was. So, I left my stuff at another hotel with some friends as I began my trek to find the friends I was staying with. Even though I was only a block from the convention center, I got lost three times. Luckily, I found a group consisting of a Vash the Stampede, Tenchi, and Yahiko, and they saw me safely to the center.
Once I was there I found my group right inside the door. I bid a fond farewell to my escorts and demanded my friends to tell me where I was staying. Turns out it was four blocks away, and traffic was bad, so I had to carry my luggage over to my hotel. Luckily, one of my friends helped me.

Well, since the whole mess got straightened out, it was time to enjoy the convention! I was extremely lucky... they had Con badges with Dilandau on them. Now I had my badge and my hotel. So, naturally the first place I decided to go was the dealers room. After all, I had come on a quest: to find a copy of the Escaflowne movie and the movie's artbook. I not only found the movie and the artbook, I found the artbook to the Cowboy Bebop movie and a copy of the second Tenchi movie. To this I added a poster (Beatles, actually ^^; ) My lain costume being unfinished, the first day I went in full camo gear (complete with helmet) as someone from 08th MS Team who dies after five frames. I was also carrying a Ken-ohki, who in the first day I got 40 people to hug. There was a rave that night, and I changed my costume to my original character (Modern Fighter Random X: a demon hunter who uses a camera to suck out souls and fights with a pair of hair chopsticks) Anyway, the costume consisted of a black pinstripe suit with the vest open and the top buttons of the collar unbuttoned, an untied blue tie, blue hair chopsticks, and a 40's-style hat titled over one eye. (Apparently it looked nice... a guy with a video camera called me sexy ^^;;;; )
Before the rave there was a special live-action Mystery Anime Theater 3000. We stood in line for half an hour, but it was well worth it. The anime chosen was called 'Attack of the Super Monsters' and was a combination of Godzilla-esque live action and animation that made original Mobile Suit Gundam look like the Cowboy Bebop movie in comparison. I really don't think I could explain the plot... But as much as we would have liked to stay all night, it was time to return to the hotel. I slept as well as I could after discovering that I had pulled two muscles. But I had a copy of the El Hazard manga to keep me company, and I was in a comparitively uncrowded room.

I woke up early so I could get to the LARP in time to claim Dilandau as my character. So, ignoring the pain and prepped on a hearty breakfast of granola bars and tap water, I made my way down to the center. I stood in line fore the LARP for two hours, waited two hours to get my character sheet made, and then waited two hours for my turn in the LARP tournament (Dilandau against Inu-yasha) Sadly, five minutes before my match, Inu-yasha was absorbed by Cell, so I left and spent the rest of the day trying to find out if there was a Van Fanel playing. I watched some good music videos, including one about Dilandau ^_^ As the day went on, I realized that I had pulled two more muscles, so I tried to make my way back to the hotel. I got semi-lost, but made it in the end. After resting for awhile, I made it over to the deli across the street and ate a real meal (my only one) When I got back, all my friends were making various signs, so I made on that said 'Beware of my camera! It will suck out your soul!' Well, after I got that sing, I got asked for my picture quite a bit ^_^ I also got a bunch of laughs, and a bunch of odd looks. That night I also attended the impromptu DBZ rally that one of my friends started. Two Great Saiyamen had a dance off, and we had a communal power up ^^; That night there was another dance, but I danced only sparingly, as I now

LordMoltar, you should check out the first dvd of princess nine and see if you like it. it's really priced to sell. (15 at best buy and the first dvd has 5 eps...with the others having only 4). it's not totally original, but what sports movie is ;-) it's very enjoyable. and cheap!
yes, ask about read or die. it's only 3 eps long, but it's very original. i was pleasantly surprised when i saw it. and the names are funny (the paper, miss deep, mr. gentleman). and the attacks are inventive! plus anything with a really large flyable paper airplane gets bonus points ;-D

allya, nice con report. it sounded like it was a blast :-D

okay, i got my miyu artbook yesterday :-D i love it! i also got the princess nine soundtrack and two sailor moon game music cds. :) which i listen to as i clean.

i also got the first 3 cardcaptor sakura dvds. i wonder why they have it as either only english edit or japanese sub....is that because the english edit was edited so much for tv or something? cause i like both...though i like the sub a tad more...unfortunately it's such a hugely long show i doubt i'll get the rest of it :-(

Is it Sunday already?! :) Thanks for the report on the con, Allya. It certainlys sounds like you had a great time. (Please take no offense, but in a way, I am glad that my convention is somewhat local. I'd hate to have to deal with the hassles of hotel searches and travel wear-and-tear.) The "Escaflowne" movie was one of the features I managed to see at this past J.A.F.A.X. as well. I didn't notice Dryden's similarities to Howard Stern, but I remember smiling to myself when first seeing Folken. He DID look exactly like David Bowie from "Labyrinth"! :D Of course, seeing one of my favorite psychos in action was always pleasureable. (I speak of the illustrious Dilly-chan.) Also, I did take a look at the picture you posted here. Nice work on the costume. (Although I still felt my dear Artemis made a better Tira Misu than the one in your picture. So, nanny-nanny-boo-boo! Heheheheheheh!) Seriously, thank you again for the report.

It's kind of hard for me to even watch the first volume of "Princess Nine", since I do not own a DVD player. However, I still am seriously thinking of talking one up for our house this summer. So it may be a while before I see anything of the series. :(

But all is not bad in Moltar-ia. First off, I have read a lot of Manga lately. Some of it I've downloaded off the Internet, like "Bleach" and "Black Cat", while others I have checked out from the library. My main example of that is "Mai The Psychic Girl". It's an Manga that's OBVIOUSLY from the 80's, but don't let that deter any of you. The story is really great, with lots of action, and it a new all time favorite Anime villain. (Her name's Turm Garten, she's only 13, but she has a homicidal streak that ALMOST makes Dilly-chan look mild in comparison.) I've also been indulging in some Anime-related creative efforts. I have been writing a script lately for a film I've called "Hardships of Courtship". Generally, it's a Romantic-Comedy/Action movie, but I plan on putting a lot of Anime related material in it. (For example, some of the characters will be dressed up as Anime characters.) That's been a blast to write, and come this coming Saturday, I'll be showing what I have written so far to Artemis to see what she thinks of it. Also, later today I'll be spending some time working on my Chibi "Kenshin" drawings. I currently have Kurogasa, Aoshi, and Shishio lined up for the cute treatment. ;) That's about it for now, true believers.

lordmoltar, no dvd player?! you should get one when you can. they're really cheap now. i got mine like 2 years or a year ago for 100 and now the same player is like 60. and it's a *good* player. it plays dvds, vcds, svcd, etc. all an anime lover could ever want ;-)

not much new here. got the x movie. but havne't had a chance to see it yet. :-(

i did rent the first dvd of now and then here and there and OH MY goddess! it rocks! i can't wait to see the rest of this series. :-D

To answer your question, and suggestion, TicTac, I've been thinking of looking into a DVD player sometime soon. I can tell you, the first thing I'll consider for Anime purchases then would be whatever volumes of "Hellsing" are available by then, along with "Spriggan". :D

That's not to say I haven't taken in any Anime recently. By all means, this past weekend I've been immersed in Anime! On Saturday, I spent some time watching some episodes of "X: The Series", and rewatched an episode of "Hellsing" with Artemis. (She also showed me some of the GIF Avatar work she's been working on. VERY nice, I must say. And that's not just because she made me a few Father Anderson GIF files. ;)) Then later that evening, we watched the last volume of "Master of Mosquiton". Hmm... as a whole, I loved the series. But if I had to voice two complaints I had about the final volume, they would be that it seemed to end rather inconclusively, and it was more serious than the previous volumes. Still, the fight between Mo-chan and Saint Germaine was GREAT!

Yesterday I finished watching what's available of the "Pet Shop of Horrors" series. By far, the second volume was less horror themed than the first volume. I noticed the stories had more of a melancholy and tragic feel. But I still liked it a lot. Also, seeing the Count get all giddy over sweets again was nifty. :D I'd highly recommend this series, if you don't have anything against what's essentially a Japanese "Tales From the Crypt". (Of, if you don't have anything against guys who dress and look EXACTLY like women!) Also, I worked on my script a bit more. Artemis liked what she saw, and already I'm about halfway through it. After I'm done with the rough draft, I'll then be typing it up, and changing some minor details. Then, if all goes well and I'm actually able to pull it together, it may actually be filmed! Yahoo!

Anyhoo, that's basically it for now. Toodles, and chow. Er, chao, I mean!

not much new. i got a volume of amazing nurse nanako...um...i somehow feel like i got more than i bargined for. i thought it was a comedy with a super girl twist...i think (i havne't watched it) that it's a tad more than that :-\ after seeing the bouncy menus i've been putting off watching it. has anyone else seen it?

Sorry, friends, but I have very little to offer up on the Anime front from this past week. :( ALTHOUGH I am almost done with my partially Anime-inspired script. This is just the first draft, so there's going to be a few changes once I actually type it out, but when that happens, I may consider posting bits and pieces of it on here. :D (As it stands, this weekend my girlfriend will review what I do have completed, and give me some additional impressions. Thus far she's liked it, and to call that spiffy would be an understatement. ;))

I was tempted to check out "Excel Saga" at the last J.A.F.A.X. convention. I just wish I could remember what I elected to watch in it's place. (If memory serves me... it may have been "Jin-Roh".) It's great to hear that you were impressed with it, Die_Jedi_Dogs. Hmm... impressive, this Anime might be! :)

I do have a small bit of personal anime/manga news to pass along. I just got the "Jubei-chan" manga today :D It's not translated :( but I'll work around that. I can already tell, just by the pictures, that parts of it are quite different from the anime.

Well, my anime-related activites have been confined to watching 'Vampire Hunter D', 'Bloodlust', and some Uncut eps of DBZ. But tomorrow I'm going out with a friend to get material for a Tomoe costume. Anyone attending Katsucon (In the Washington D.C. area) please consider going as someone from Kenshin! You can contact me at Kendo_Bunny@hotmail.com to find out more ^_^ If you go as someone from Kenshin, I'll bring you a bag of fudge :) I do make exceptionally good fudge.

Oh yeah... now I remember, Artemis. :D Thanks for reminding me! Ah, if only we actually were thinking that day, and asked the guy for his e-mail address. Next year, I am DEFINENTLY coming with a notebook, so I can get some people's addys. ;)

By the way, that's a great costume idea, Allya. I'm sure you'll make a fine Tomoe. (You sure you didn't want to go for Kaoru, or Misao, or the Foxy Lady herself, Megumi? LOL) I trust you will be possibly showcasing some photos from this upcoming convention? The most I've thought about lately with Cosplay is how it applies to my script, what I may Cosplay as for Halloween, and maybe starting on next year's J.A.F.A.X. costumes around Halloween. That I'll have to talk with Artemis about, when the time nears.

Personally, Dampo, if there was ever going to be a "Star Wars" Anime series, I would want it to be set in the EU, but not be direct adaptions of the novels or comics. It'd be great if such a series gave us original stories. Sure, we could have familiar characters show up from time to time, but I would love to have new characters introduced as well.

Of course I don't want to be Kaoru, Misao, or Megumi, because then Sarah, Andrietta, and Lindsey would kill me ^^;; Besides, the Kenshin character I claimed was Tomoe, who is the preferred girl of my group's Kenshin. Although part of her Kenshin costume is a collar with four leashes: one for each of us. Apparently my costume is three-quarters done already... all I need is the shoes, the wig, and to paint the parasol I bought.

My other anime activity: started 'Legend of Kyoto' and I found at that someone else at work is an anime fan ^_^
