Star Wars and College

I'm pretty new at this whole forum thingy but here goes. At the age of 10 I was swept away by that galaxy far far away. Now I'm 21 and a junior in college. One of my professors recently did a project where he showed the major concentrations of baseball fans on various maps. This got me thinking about Star Wars fans. There don't seem to be many in Eau Claire, WI. I was thinking I could carry out the same project using Star Wars fans. The only problem is I have no way of knowing where these fans live in the world. I was thinking that maybe a could compile a short list of fans from around the world and then map these fans out. I would only ask for location and maybe age. I thought asking on a forum like this would be the way to go. A research project like this could even get me into grad school. I don't know just thought I'd throw the idea out there. If anyone has any suggestions or they wanna tell me to stick it, I would greatly value your advice. Thanks a lot.
