I also feel like the gun play is in limbo. You have alot more spread, which is more realistic. Ok fair enough. But if they're going to institute more realism, where's my iron sites, or true ADS? Why doesn't crouching increase accuracy? The drips and drabs of realism vs arcade style make no sense to me. Either be a hip fire fest like bf 1, or get some real shooting mechanics like Dice's Battlefield series. Being somewhere in between is lame.

Yes, it's funny how so many people ignore the Ion rifles for taking down the MTT and simply rush in towards leaving them behind unused.

I admit I really didn't know what to do during my first 2-3 games, but it shouldn't take too much time to figure out how to play the objective.

I can kind of see why people do that though. It makes you even more of a target for the Seps. I tend to just leave it to my teammates since I seem to die as soon as I pick one up.

It could be that players don’t really care about the first phase and want the game to progress instead of finishing.

It’s a difficult balance problem for multistage modes with people wanting to win but wanting the round to continue through all phases. The dev’s goal should be to create a mode where all three phases are regularly being reached but currently aren’t.

I also believe THEED itself needs some tweaking from phase 1 to 2 to benefit the CIS. I think the number of reinforcements for the droids should be independent of remaining health % of the MTT. I’ve seen a few rounds with the MTT at 8% at phase completion leaving the droids 38 reinforcements for phase 2. While not impossible it’s a big ask for them to secure the hallways and if they do it’s likely they’ll only have a similar number for the final phase. More often than not the match finishes in phase two. Similarly as clones I love the frenetic chaos that is the throne room and so I semi want to let the droids breach the palace, the hallways so we can have a heroic last stand.

Anyways TLDR: Galactic Assault maps need to be balanced in a way that all phases are met 90% of the time you play.

Pretty fun, I must say. Theed is a really great map. The Assault Class is a lot weaker than I expected tho. Heavy class is the best.

I think third person in this game is a lot smoother than it was in the 2015 game. I find more advantage in third person for most of the factions. I only play as the Separatists in first person, as it feels better when you're a skinny droid.

I also think Arcade mode is a joke. 10v10 is fun and the Onslaught mode is fun too for what it is, but it's essentially Missions from the previous game. I would hope they would have Skirmish or basically GA offline but whatever.

Anyway, an improvement over the previous game for sure. This one is worth the $60 overall I think.

I managed to play as both Darth Maul and Rey today!:D
As Rey all I really did was kill the other teams Darth Maul, before succumbing to blaster fire myself.
As Maul I slaughtered dozens of Clones before going out in a blaze of glory.

Ironically I just came from playing a match as the droids. We entered the palace with 100 troops, and were promptly slaughtered in the throne room.
But only because someone managed to sneak a chicken walker in there.
Those things are nearly impossible to kill indoors.

It's my experience that there is always a few players at least that care completely focused on the objectives. If for no other reason than the points you get for doing it (Which is definitely an incentive). Some others may be ignorant, or intentionally avoiding doing so. But a large part of how well the republic does, is based on how well the CIS does their job in killing the Clones. I paid more attention today, and it seemed in those matches where the CIS does very well, its not because the Republic isn't trying, but rather because the droids are so effective at guarding the disruptors. I see them pick up those guns all the time, and they almost always are shot while doing so.

Though what AndrewPascoe said is definitely a factor. When I'm on the republic side for instance I do my best to balance my desire for an awesome battle in the corridors of the palace, with an intent to win. Therefor for the first half of the match I pretty much ignore the ATT and focus on picking up kills. If the transport gets close to the palace, and still has like 90% health, THAT is when I go out of my way to focus on it. That way when they blow the door, we still have a good shot at emerging victories. I usually don't have to do much though, as my team mates are pretty good at being on target.

Until we know for sure it's Skirmish mode, and not the same thing in regular arcade just with customizing time limitd, etc, I'll be cautious.

If it is Skirmish mode, then I'll take my L..

Sad to say, but Rey is almost worthless in this beta. He abilites are not very useful for Galactic Assault.

And...rocket trooper need a nerf. Trying to play Strike with those is beyond annoying because of how over powered they are. Or just remove them from that map, which may be better.

Also, anyone having horrific issues trying to complete Heavy Firepower and Quick Draw on Xbox? They never update with my new kills. I can't complete them due to sheer technical issues.

EDIT: Playing as the Falcon and Slave 1 is pointless. Once you get someone on your tail, it's impossible to get off without using Slave 1's bomb.

Rockets from the rocket troopers seems a bit weak as well unless you score a direct hit. Splash damage seems to be negligible.

Well, circumstances at work have prevented me from trying out the beta this weekend. I have almost zero free time between now and when the beta ends on Monday morning. So I guess I'll have to just wait it out and be a noob when the game is released for real.

For the Heavy challenge, using the clones' default heavy blaster worked for me, and for Quick Draw I used either side's default officer pistol (in Strike for the closer ranges). Unfortunate that these bugs exist as there were issues with challenges in BF2015, too.

Totally agree about the hero ships! At least in the previous game your teammates would help you out, but there are so many other objectives to target now that they never seem to notice your tail. Definitely some changes needed. Edit: A voiceover prompt could be a good idea, to start with. You'd hear Han saying something like, "A little help here??”

Yeah, I figured out you had to use the default weapons for those two challenges. Using the default officer pistols was painful...but I got the challenges done. I'm just glad to be done with all the challenges now.

I feel that grenades and rockets are tricky balance territory. The jump troopers are already too powerful and the rocket is an easy one-hit kill most of the time, then the grenade spam is little too much in the game already. The game can do without the kind of splash damage that BF1 had with its ridiculous thermal imploders.

Specialist is OP on Galactic Assault, but only on the CIS side. I keep getting 5000 points by the time the MTT reaches the second gate by just constantly activating assassin mode and running behind enemy lines. They never see me coming, and the ability refreshes after each kill. Combined with the Stealth card it makes you unstoppable.
Love Maul, and his evade dash is very useful. Boba is meh. Rey and Han are pretty much useless!

All in all, a promising start IMO!

Jump Troopers need a health nerf big time. They should have no more health than assault troopers. Their agility is their strength, and to balance that they shouldn't have more health than Heavy Troopers. Not to mention their blaster, at least the First Order version, is pretty OP. Easier to get kills with than Assault's standard blaster for sure.

I would at least log on for a few minutes. I am pretty sure that everyone who participates in the beta gets some sort of founder rewards crate when the game is released.

If you are interested in an unofficial but pretty obviously legitimate leak regarding custom Arcade mode, check out this link:
Assuming that an average YouTuber can't photo-shop/code well enough to fake gameplay like what is shown in the videos, the information is most likely true, though still subject to change.

Playing the Multiplayer beta on PC. You can only change class if you die? How disappointing. In LucasArts Battlefront II from 2005 you can change class without getting yourself killed.

These are my predictions for the Dark Side missions.

    • Wipe Them Out (Maul, Theed)
    • Roger, Roger (Droid, Theed)
    • Unlimited Power (Emperor, Kamino?)
    • Scum and Vigilance (Boba Fett, Mos Eisley)
    • Finish What You Started (Kylo Ren, Takodana?)
    • Hope Cannot Save Them (Iden, probably a single player map?)
    • Rebels, Blast Them (Stormtrooper, Death Star)
    • Embrace The Dark Side (Vader, Tantive IV?)
