CJ25 Star Wars Celebration (social thread)

I don't see anywhere with the Mariott dates going out that far yet.

 

Might just have to end up paying for the Hyatt Regency. Or at least book it now and then see what I can get through the Celebration site.

 

I'm not booking anything until I see the onpeak rates.

Assuming a 5 day con, I'm looking at going Tuesday-Tuesday.

 

Same here. That's why these places add up.

Wow! Plus McCormick Place is the biggest convention center in the country. This will be epic.

 

It the Arie Crown theater likely the main stage? It looks nice, but only holds 4,250.

 

Chicago? Well, **** Wonder what drove that location choice? Chi Town, here we come

 

Looks like the OnPeak block booking must have secured a LOT of rooms as pretty much all of the local hotels are showing no availability.

And speaking of hotels... I guess I'd better cancel that Anaheim booking
What sucks is I got the dates right so it would have been a great rate!

Booked at the Hyatt the second I heard!!! Can’t wait to go! I wonder how spreading it out to 5 days will be and how much more the tickets will be

Also I called it in, didn’t do it online if that helped

 

I figure 5 days passes will be in the $200-$250 range.

 

Hotel booked! The Hyatt and Marriott were already booked by the time I figured it all out, but it's the next closest one just down the street. Free cancellation until the week of. Then I can see what OnPeak has to offer when that opens.

It's called Chicago South Loop Hotel. There's still rooms available if you want to check it out. You may want to think about it, there's a real shortage of hotels in the immediate vicinity. If you decide to book, make sure you can cancel, because they give you several options.

 

Another thing to keep in mind is that this won't be like Orlando. Anticipate some cool (and potentially quite cold) weather.

 

Yeah it snowed in this part of the country up until like two weeks ago.

 

Another reason it's important to be close by.

Yeah I saw that one. Hopefully they’ll have rooms left once I’ve run it by my group in the morning.

I’m sure they’ll pack a lot of content I but hopefully 5 days will really let them spread out the big events. I’ll definitely be needing at least some sleep since this is basically a week long event now!

For tickets I’m guessing $200 for 5 days and anywhere between $850-1000 for VIP this time.

 

So is the abbreviation for this one going to be SWCC?

 

Probably, but I like SWCWC (Star Wars Celebration Windy City).

 

Grabbed a reservation at a Mariott about a 15 min Uber away but fingers crossed on grabbing one of the block reservations when they go on sale. Pretty pumped for it to be in Chicago!
