Do we know if its vehicular combat? It could be more along the lines of the driving sections of Battle for Naboo.

That's what I was thinking. Obviously the multiplayer mode is going to be some sort of deathmatch, but I hope the single player mode is mission/objective based.

Ok here's all the info from the article:
It begins where episode 2 ends.
    3D Vehicular Combat.
Made by the same people that made Dark Reign 1 and 2 for the PC and Army Men RTS for PS2.
16 missions including escorting, defending, and destroying specific targets.
Takes place on 6 planets including Geonosis.
Everything takes place on land, inclding a few missions on foot.
Like Starfighter and Rogue Leader, you will be able to issue orders to squadmates.
Multiplayer (4 player GameCube, 2 player PS2) ranges from Twisted Metal-style Deathmatch, King of the Hill, Capture the flag, and others.
There's also a "strategy" multiplayer mode in which each player starts out with an HQ he has to defend, but there's also several neutral factories you can capture to create more units. You win by capturing the other side's HQ.

You can play as both the Republic and the Confedercy it seems. Also, it seems these vehicles will be in Clone Campaigns as units. This Clone Wars game is really starting to look pretty cool.

    New preview!

    A few points:

-It's more of an adventure game than a vehicular combat game, although it includes elements of both.

-You can play as Anakin, Obi-Wan, or Mace.

-The GC version comes out a month before the PS2 one.

I really hope that the Star Wars: Clone Wars and Star Wars: Bounty Hunter games are as good as Rogue Leader. RL was the best Star Wars game I ever played.

Does anybody know if SW:CW will be like Battle for Naboo for the N64?

Battle for Naboo was actually developed by Factor 5, the guys behind Rogue Leader, so it has more in common with that title than with Clone Wars. Clone Wars appears to be more similar to Shadows of the Empire than anything, with its multilple genres (we've seen pictures of flying levels, tank levels, third person on foot levels, and speeder racing levels). Of course, Clone Wars has a multiplayer mode, and you play as a Jedi (lightsabers!) instead of that crappy Dash Rendar guy, so I have high hopes that it will turn out better. We'll have to wait and see, I guess.

Good thing E3's soon. We should get a boatload of screenies then - perhaps more of multiplayer :D

    From the Gamespot preview:

The game's story focuses on the recently introduced Count Dooku, a rogue Jedi leading a separatist movement that threatens the stability of the Galactic Republic. Following the events seen in the film, Dooku sets out to recover the components of an ancient Sith weapon that will give his forces the upper hand in the escalating war. Once Dooku's intentions are discovered by the Jedi order, they head out to stop him before he recovers the weapon. You'll assume the role of Anakin, Obi Wan, and Mace Windu over the course of the game and have opportunity to pilot ships and other modes of transportation in 16 mission-based levels. The story will send you to six worlds that are a mix of familiar locations from the film such as Geonosis and original locations such as Raxes Prime; a moon orbiting Kashykk (Chewbacca's 'hood, for the uninformed); Rhen Var; Thule; and an asteroid orbiting Thule.

    And from the IGN preview:

Clone Wars is a military combat game set in real-time 3D. LucasArts, which speaks of the game as if it's the unofficial sequel to Rogue Leader, notes that the game plays very much like the Factor 5-developed game. Players fight both in the air and on the ground flying and driving a host of seven different vehicles, from a speeder bike and AT-SX assault walker to a fighter tank, and Republic gunship.

    Official site is updated!

LUCASARTS ESTABLISHES DEVELOPMENT RELATIONSHIP WITH PANDEMIC STUDIOS TO UNLEASH STAR WARS®: THE CLONE WARS?

Combat Action Game for Nintendo® GameCube? and PlayStation®2 Inspired by Climactic Battle from Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. -- May 16, 2002 -- "Begun, the Clone War has." -- Jedi Master Yoda

LucasArts Entertainment Company LLC, in conjunction with Pandemic Studios LLC, will bring Star Wars: The Clone Wars, a ground and air-based combat action game inspired by and expanding upon one of the Star Wars galaxy's most dramatic and intensely fought conflicts, to Nintendo GameCube and PlayStation 2. Star Wars: The Clone Wars, to be published and distributed by LucasArts and developed by Pandemic Studios, is expected to release on both platforms in fall 2002.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars immerses players into the role of Jedi hero to lead a clone army from the Republic against the menacing offensive threat of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Under the leadership of the insidious Count Dooku, countless armies of Confederacy droids have swarmed every star system, sowing chaos and destruction across Republic worlds. To combat this threat the Republic has deployed a massive army of clones, led by one of three player-controlled Jedi: Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi or Mace Windu. Their goal is to thwart the Confederacy from reassembling an ancient Sith weapon of mass destruction. That mandate places the fate of the Republic in the hands of players, who must command their forces through 16 dramatic campaigns spanning six immense Star Wars worlds, from the desolate, ice-covered ruins of Rhen Var and war-torn plains of Geonosis, to the towering treetop cities of the Wookiee home planet of Kashyyyk.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars features innovative and well-detailed single and multiplayer campaigns coupled with a unique blend of non-stop action. The game will incorporate popular characters and various familiar vehicles and settings from Star Wars: Episode II. While the game's primary focus is on high-intensity engagement, defined combat roles for each vehicle will add a distinctive dimension. Upon meeting certain objectives, players can change vehicles during battle and pilot an array of units from the arsenal of the Republic, including a speeder bike, AT-SX assault walker, fighter tank, and Republic gunship. In all, players engage more than 30 unique combat units.

"LucasArts has been keen to work with Pandemic ever since the first version of Battlezone, which perfectly combined action and strategy with a tremendous graphics engine," says Simon Jeffery, president of LucasArts. "The high level of quality and sophistication they've brought to previous projects, combined with the Clone War, one of the most epic events in Star Wars, will undoubtedly result in an exhilarating game that will meet, if not exceed, the expectations of players and fans alike."

"The Clone War was first mentioned in the film Star Wars: A New Hope, and though few details were revealed the conflict has continued to intrigue fans over the years," says Josh Resnick, president of Pandemic Studios. "On the eve of the premiere of Star Wars: Episode II, we now know that the Clone War was one of the largest and most pivotal events in the history of Star Wars. Pandemic's vast experience in developing large-scale military combat action games is ideally suited to recreating that legendary war for an interactive medium, and will enable players to experience all its intensity first-hand."

Star Wars: The Clone Wars features several unique multiplayer games, including Duel, King of the Hill, Conquest, and others. Duel presents a standard deathmatch scenario with various units from the game. In King of the Hill players attempt to earn points by staying in the "control zone" for as long as possible. Conquest is a unique blend of action and strategy that challenges two teams try to destroy each other's home base. In
