Those pages make my eyes hurt.:p

Jokes aside, the main page looks pretty sweet.

tvtropes is a goldmine for people like us. every obscure thing you've ever noticed about a book, tv show, movie, that made you feel like a genius- it's a whole community who also feel like geniuses, and who notice things you've never notice, then make notes and awesome jokes about them.

That tropes page needs an: "As the world turns" section with Sojourn as the keyword.

    Getting psyched for this book...

...while replaying parts of TFU on Sith Master difficulty with Palpatine skin. :D

10,000 Wookieepedia pages will be well within 6° of separation of this novel.

The avg turnaround is 6-9 months on the SW publishing schedule, this book had five years.
I'd guess 40 planetary systens, or more... Staggering amounts of tie ins. Bold prequel alterations and subtle ways of making them all feel just right.

IMO: Even the envelope pushing stuff gets put to bed by Palpatine. Wait till you read what he says on Anakin's first day as a Padawan. Obi Wan never had a chance after that.

Does Kevin Bacon appear in the book?

He's the Kenny Baker inside "One-One-Four-Dee"....
    ;)

    EDIT:

    Today's excerpt....

"For the Jedi, Mastery was conferred when one attained a true understanding of the ways of the Force; for the Sith, that level of under-standing was merely the beginning."

I don't expect anything less from a Luceno novel.

That incongruous hyphenation is interesting. Perhaps "under-standing" means standing less than usual? And if so, what does that have to do with the Sith? Is a true Sith defined by mostly sitting?

    Makes sense to me.

After you've fallen, why bother standing back up?

So, it seems we have a new Supreme Chancellor. Thoris Darus (preceding Frix), of Corulag, an "incorrigible womanizer" and "enthusiast of sport, opera, legitimate gambling, and high cuisine". Also apparently more or less single-handedly responsible for the state the Republic is in by the time of the prequels. Vaila Pecivas' term is also dated to about a decade before his.

    Something to ponder:

How does a Master; in Bane's Order, properly teach his heir to fight against sentient beings in a galaxy controlled by the Jedi? Smashing wave after wave of automatons and war-droids in a warehouse on some abandoned moon is one thing, but to fight against independent thinkers is something entirely different.

How can the Sith Apprentice know HOW to be lethal with all of his attacks, if he or she didn't learn from experience?

For some reason Amazon.com says this book doesn't come out until January 10, 2012. I thought is was supposed to be out today.

    Pushed back, it was.

    ¤¤¤

On a happier note, Drew K. fans will be pleased to learn that Luceno made Revan and Plagueis, blood brothers. From a certain POV....

However, the Plagueis novel, through Sidious, establishes that it has a will.[face_skull]

I'm guessing that Jedi died in mysterious, "freak accidents," once or twice a decade.

YODA: Hmmm. Master Sunbouncer, blown up near that abandoned factory in the Works by a drunk cargo driver with explosives, was he? Hmmm. Just seven years after Padawan Shan was killed by a drunk podracer on Malastare. Hmmm. Do something about this drinking while driving, we must! [face_alien_1]

The Shan dynasty is still around in Yoda's time? Intriguing.
