The Despot War... do I detect a reference to Xim the Despot?

If so, that is a great thing here. Shows great continuity. And this might mean we can see more references to Xim the Despot's war against the Hutts. :D

Even though they've obviously got plenty to explore with the Rakata, and Tython and such... I wonder if we'll get any insights into the other ancient terrors of the galaxy. I wouldn't expect them to be front and center, but this series obviously has the most likely potential to explore such things now.

So now John and Jan own the beginning and the end of the timeline.

I think you're mistaking Jan and John for Waru. :p

So she's a [link=http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Kwa]lizard[/link] right? Cos humans don't live there until like way later.

Also aw man, Rakata. Drew Karpyshyn ruins everything. :(

John, I understand that character development would have to be pretty far along by now, so rather than make actual requests (that I'm not sure you'd respond to anyway), I just want to mention that yours and Jan's efforts to give Legacy and Republic very diverse casts from both a racial and species standpoint have been enormously appreciated over the years and I look forward to that continuing here, especially with what I'm assuming is a 100% Skywalker-free cast. I also appreciate how John and Jan have brought us so many visuals and "live" looks at worlds long-established but seldom depicted in the EU, like Kiffex and Kiffu, Devaron, etc., as well as revisitng worlds not seen as EU setting since the days of Marvel and Manning, like Daluuj and the Wheel. They also depict many alien characters outside of "type", ie many brave and capable starfighter pilots from species we normally think of as villainous thugs [Klatooinians, Dugs], and even an eloquent and philosophical Weequay

I am very glad with the creative team who have been chosen. =D= Mr. Ostrander and Ms. Duursema did an excellent job with Legacy, and I can think of few others gifted enough to entrust with telling of the early years of the Jedi Order.

I'm also intrigued by the news that we'll be getting a greater exploration of the Tython system. Recent revelations from The Old Republic state that Tython is the fifth of 11 planets in its system, so it should be fascinating to see what we can expect ... :D

And: The Despot War? XIM!?[face_praying]Granted, it's not the same as a comic series focusing on the war itself, but I would suspect that between the Despotica and the forthcoming Essential Guide to Warfare, we've either received or will receive a great deal of in-our-faces information on Xim and Co. ...

And it's details like that which reassure me that this will work. The Legacy team have proven, IMHO, that they can build upon existing continuity without demolishing it in the process. [face_dancing]

Getting this instead of continued Legacy? Cade and co. flew off into the metaphorical sunset with a (relatively) happy ending. Gimme some Ashla v. Bogan smackdown for a few years, please. =P~

Coop - Ehh well the thing is the cast really oughta be mostly if not entirely human at this particular point in galactic history. Maybe a Duros or three, but definitely not anything from outside the Core.

(I mean, yeah, Rakata lol etc. But still.)

ETA: Also, yeah, I'd rather've stuck with legacy. It did kinda got goofy there toward the end, but it's hard to tell how much of that was because it was rushed. This... I'm not thrilled with exploring so early an era anyway (though I'll admit this is largely due to the Rakata - which were and remain a terrible terrible concept - being inevitably involved), but I'm especially... eh let's say, skeptical... about how this take's gonna wind up.

I have to be honest, I'd love to see them managed to come up with a marriage of the Manichean and Eastern dualisms. But that's just me, I really want the cosmology of Star Wars to be much more developed and not lifted wholly from either Taoism or the Semitic and/or Zoroastrian traditions. And I think it can be done.

Yeah, the presence of Rim species in the Deep Core at this stage is rather inexplicable. Magic Rakata based devices or some other pre-hyperdrive tech that can somehow accomplish this? It's . . . curious. I hope we get an explanation.

I came in here honestly to comment on the similarity of the Jee'dai name to the Yuuzhan Vong pronunciation, and also to lament the lack of use of "Dai Bendu"... which it turns out, they are using. So... cool.

Also, I wonder if this will reference, even obliquely, the Alien Exodus project? The "core aliens only" comments reminded me of this.

Also also, the more open take on the Force should be pretty interesting...

    You're forgetting the navel-tattoo:

After Legacy, I honestly cannot understand how these two keep getting work.

Deflect bullets with swords? Of course not. Once they're ready, they won't need to.

I for one actually like the "barehanded" Force use... reminds me of the days when we thought Masters were beyond using weapons, except perhaps twigs that would stand against any lightsaber just to prove a point.

It's in the interview: 9 ships brought force sensitives from all over the galaxy. No one knows who built the ships, or why they selected the group they did. Something that was mentioned repeatedly in the interview is that Tython is completely isolated at this point, with no hyperdrives but the Rataka and the mysterious ships being able to navigate in or out.

PS-Which means the Despot War most likely has nothing to do with Xim. Plus, i don't think the timing is right.
