    Prologue
Chewbacca popped his head up. The smell of the ferns, trees, leaves and fuel filled his sensitive nostrils. The faint buzz of insects and chirping birds was drowned out by the sound of ion engines. Chewie watched as an Imperial Shuttle took off. He was soon joined by Leia and others.
"The main entrance to the control bunker is on the far side of that landing platform," Leia said. Next to her was Solo, the human to which Chewbacca had pledged a life-debt. Behind them, Chewie heard an Ewok, the diminutive natives of this planet, chattering softly to C-3PO.
"This isn't gonna be easy," Leia sighed.
"Hey, don't worry. Chewie and me got into a lot of places more heavily guarded than this," Solo assured.
Just then, the Ewok began speaking. "Yub ya. Natthloo."
"Hmmm. Kuchuck n'boo. Yeb nabyah?" replied the golden translator droid. Chewie was beginning to be very grateful for the normally irritating C-3PO.
    "Ya-cha! Aiga-inga. Chebookie-ookie!"
"What did he say?" queried the Alderaanian princess.
"He said, 'There's a secret entrance on the other side of this ridge.'"

In deep space, the spaces between stars and planets and nebulae are filled with ordinary galactic detritus. Hydrogen, dust, some heavy metals left over from a supernova, helium. However, this part of space was not empty, even if one excluded the planets, star, and spaceborne particles and bodies in the Sullust system. Far from it. Blocky Corellian blockade runners, organically shaped MC-80's, ellipsoid Medium Cruisers, and a multitude of fighters. Lando Calrissian, no--General Calrissian--he thought, was to lead these fighters in an impossible battle against the villainous Galactic Empire. They'd be fighting a battle that a force such as the Rebellion should never do--go out into the open and engage the enemy strength for strength. Lando got back to piloting as his proximity alarm went off. He veered away from Home One, the flagship, missing its hull by mere meters.
"Admiral, we're in position. All fighters accounted for."
" Proceed with the countdown. All groups, assume attack coordinates. "
The Sullustian co-pilot turned to Calrissian. "Ah too-ray-a yudaharay myu riary mo kay ha, huh?"
"Don't worry, my friend's down there. He'll have that shield down on time."
    Nien Numb muttered something.
"Or this'll be the shortest offensive of all time," the general mumbled under his breath.
"All craft: prepare to jump into hyperspace on my mark! " Ackbar came in over the comlink.
    "All right. Stand by."
Lando pulled the lever and the stars blurred into streaks. An instant later, he was looking in a blue-white walled tunnel.

Han heard Paploo whistle. He ran through the thick foliage, up to the Ewok. Paploo said something quickly.
"Back door, huh? Good idea," the smuggler-turned-general replied.
Han looked at the bunker. Four white-armored scouts were in front of the door. Their bikes hovered about four meters away. The bunker itself was a typical Imperial structure: ugly, all thought given to function, none to form. It was a dull brown, and was trapezoidal in shape.
"There's only a few guards. This shoul

^_^ Great story and very exciting! But the Imperial that piloted the AT-AT on Endor was Commander Igar, not Veers. Then again, it is an AU....

    Great start! ^_^
