ST STAR WARS: EPISODE VII CAST ANNOUNCED

Yes. We know that "Rachel" and "Thomas" are fake names, with more than likely fake character descriptions. But we also know they DID hold open auditions for a young man and young woman to audition as those "characters", so this is clearly the result of that.

Production seems to be going well.

 

Pip reminds me a bit of Jenson Ackles in that Spider-Man ad.

Don't know much about these guys but glad to have them aboard.

 

A screen test is a short film meant to test how an actor looks on screen:



Those were not screen tests, they were auditions. Auditions where LFL employees specifically stated that they were looking to cast two particular roles, a male and a female:





And now they have announced that they found actors for those two roles: "Rachel", a 17-18 year old female, open to all ethnicities, and "Thomas", a 19-23 year old male who is handsome, smart, and athletic.

There is NO EVIDENCE that "Rachel" and "Thomas" are composite characters. That was just wishful thinking on the part of fans who were worried that if Daisy was Rachel it would mean she couldn't be a Solo. So they started claiming that "Rachel" didn't exist, therefore there was nothing to worry about.

Movies are not cast with composite characters. They are cast with real, but vague, character descriptions, in order to find the best actor for every part.

Unless you want to provide an example of a casting sheet for an actual movie that DID use fake character descriptions?

 

LOL, you go with that. I am going to continue believing that they did not AUDITION 35,000 people for the characters of Katniss and Peta.

Nice, Pip Andersen's a free runner. I'm a fan of parkour athletes, and I'd love to see some legitimate free running stunts in the new movie, so I'll really be interested in knowing who he is playing.

gee i guess people on the internet don't know everything about top secret casting for a movie or if there's enough diversity or not.

 

I find it hard to believe that 'Rachel' & 'Thomas' are real characters because if they are that means there's over 30 thousand people out there with knowledge of the film.

Not possible.

Rachel and Thomas were placeholder characters used to test acting ability.

They are definitely not real characters, 100% with you on that. They were made up for the audition process. But as Lucasfilm confirm that the two new cast members are the result of the open casting calls, it's safe to assume these are the two that gained the roles listed as "Rachel" and "Thomas" even though we know they won't be playing characters that match the descriptions given, as that was more than likely fake.

 

So how many different actors/actresses does this make?

 

Including the ones that haven't been announced? Probably a few hundred.

 

For Episode 7 atm.

 

I guess these two start shooting tomorrow unless they have already started.

 

Oh good lord, if they had read under the character names Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dumb, would you guys still be hanging on that? They are more Katniss and Peta than they are Rachel and Thomas. They found actors who read lines. The speculation process should really not stretch beyond that.
