ST STAR WARS: EPISODE VII CAST ANNOUNCED

I could see how they might keep that secret, a big twist we find out the bad guy is secretly in league with the spirit of Sidious or something.

 

As much as I've tried to keep expectations super-low, this was great. Nice to have most of the original cast and then mostly "unknown" actors in new roles.

I think much of the excitement is actually "oh wait, this movie is actually happening!!!!" after months of zero news.

Certainly those names wouldn't be in this announced cast, I'd expect these are the "major" characters and they wouldn't want an obvious spoiler.

 

At least all the not enough diversity people in star wars can shut up

 

Happy for boyega. Props to Isaacs, sydow, and serkis.

Looks like a good cast to me.

 

Loved Domhall in Anna Karenina and Harry Potter.

On a gloomier note, I've already seen at least one tweet bemoaning that there's only one (new) woman cast.

 

Don't assume he will mo cap, he's a very capable actor in the flesh.

 

Well we know who is in Episode VII, but these other rumored actors may be looking at spin offs. If Disney is planning on a spin off release in 2016 they would likely be in the early stages of casting right now.

Nobody looks like a Skywalker or a Solo to me (except maybe Daisy). Interesting. I can't even figure out who's the third of the "new young leads". Boyega-Daisy-(?)

Isaac? Driver? Gleeson?

 

Do I see Skywalker son and Solo girl?

 

Very, very pleased to see Max Von Sydow among the cast.

He follows in SW tradition of actors like Christopher Lee and Alec Guiness - gravitas.

Oh, and Andy Serkis...will he be a CG character ala Gollum and Caesar?

I don't think Force Ghosts would be considered central cast. I believe Ahmed Best read Yoda's lines in the TPM read-throughs. I very much want Force Ghosts in VII Plus they'll have a few surprises up their sleeves, won't they?

What's more intriguing to me is the lack of casting for a wife/love interest for Luke. Are we to assume that if he does have a child that his wife died at some point?
