Interesting. I can see them announcing the composer soon (please don't be Nathan Johnson).

 

Did John Williams suddenly die or something? Because if not, his being the composer is a nobrainer in a field of empty heads.

 

No, but he might retire from the franchise (or film scores entirely) after TFA. Passing the torch so to speak.

Awww, I'd welcome Mark or Sebastian Stan in Star Wars, especially since their roles in the MCU seem to a bit limited. They're both very good actors and it would be fun to see them here in some capacity.

And Pinewood news, that's always nice to hear.

If they start filming Ep 8 before Ep 7 comes out, then you pretty much know which cast members survive the film.

 

They need a classical composer, not someone with extensive film background that scores dozens of movies to replace John Williams, IMO.
I know a lot of people want Giacchino to be the next Star Wars composer but that would be unfortunate.

 

As long as John Williams is alive and willing, he should still be the one scoring the episodic films.

Very scared that the episodic films will be watered down by the spin-offs. Much like the Marvel garbage which at this point are various shades of uninspired, mind-numbing grays. But alas, the studios can't turn down the cash.

Han stuff aside, it raises the notion that Luke may still have trainees out and about the galaxy in hiding.

 

No matter what, the Episodic films are their bread-and-butter. Those are undoubtedly the films they're counting on to be the big money makers. If anything it's the Anthology films I'm worried about. Those are the ones that'll ride the fine line between "interesting diversion into heretofore unseen corners of the Star Wars universe," which is what Rogue One appears to be, and "Soulless cash grab riding a beloved franchise's name with fan-favorite characters out the wazoo," which is pretty much what a Boba Fett origin film with young Han and Lando would be, barring a cosmic miracle of some sort.
