Fun fact: Del Toro was JJ's original choice to play Khan.

what if Del Toro is taking Hux's place?
plus there was that Making rumor of a female Sith plus Snoke. Kylo, and Phasma, man that's a lot of potential villains.

I wonder if he's a one movie villain or will he be in VIII and IX?

Good. It says early stages, though, so it may not happen. I'll be honest, I'm not used to this much SW news in such quick succession. I think I'm starting to get overwhelmed.

So assuming Kylo is a Solo like we think, he will be the Darth Vader of this trilogy. The assumption was that Snoke would be The Emperor of this trilogy. That assumption would seem to be backed up by the fact that Serkis only was appearing as a cameo sized role in this one as well as the fact that they were keeping his character under wraps. You don't just cast Andy Serkis as a throw away villain in a small role only for him to be killed off and not return for the next movie. He would seem to be the big bad of the trilogy for sure. Is BDT going to be the actual big bad of the trilogy with evidence of everything already pointing that way for Serkis? Who knows. With what we have to go on now, I would say del Toro would be more of a Tarkin/Hux type character where its decent sized, but not the actual big bad. Time will tell.

If Han Solo does die in TFA, I wonder if they will continue to bring the criminal underworld element in through one of the newer characters. If you ask me, that was an important ingredient in the OT, balanced with Luke's Force journey and the Rebel-Empire conflict. In ANH, we meet Han in the seedy Cantina and get hints about his background, specifically his debt to Jabba. In ESB, the bounty on his head catches up to him as Boba Fett gets involved. In ROTJ, they finally have to defeat Jabba, the "big bad" of the criminal underworld in Star Wars.

Han appears to take our characters through more of that criminal world in TFA with the giant freighter, the Kanjiklub Gang or whatever, etc. But with Han out of the picture, will any of the young characters fill that role? Will Poe have ties to the underworld? Perhaps Finn could still be wanted by the First Order, with bounty hunters constantly after him.

Bringing Lando back into the story could be a way to keep that criminal element alive. Speaking of con men, perhaps that's one reason they brought Rian Johnson in, with all the con man shenanigans he did so well in The Brothers Bloom. Benicio del Toro could play some sort of big bad in the criminal underworld, equivalent to Jabba the Hutt in terms of power.

Good idea there. We do not know how wide spread the First Order is, he could very well be a high ranking military member.

Re: lots of villains: if they're all interesting and pose a threat to the heroes as individuals and united together, that could be a lot of fun.

The middle movie has to have a blitzkrieg warlike title.

Lol, I actually wouldn't have a problem with that. "Raid on the Resistance" is a good one also that I saw someone else suggested.

    I don't see what's to hate here?

For example if the movie reveals a whole order of Dark Siders of some description that the heroes have to fight then I'd say the title makes complete sense.

However I am like you sceptical about the integrity of a rumour from a random first time user on moviepilot.com who gives no indication of their source.
