ST Star Wars: Episode VIII Rumour and Spoiler thread - No Discussion

since new spoilers from MakingStarWars.net about Star Wars: Episode VIII begin to leak, I thought it would be good if we have a new spoiler thread for a summary of all MSW spoilers about that movie. We had a similiar thread in the 7SA forum before TFA came out, so I think it's best we keep this thread as a depository of all MSW spoilers. Discussion of said spoilers should therefore not take place in this thread, but in the general New Rumour Intellectual Thread of Seriousness for Sophisticated Discourse.

I already made a summary of some of the MSW spoilers. I'm not entirely sure if the order of these scenes in my summary is accurate. If I have missed anything, please tell me.


Dubrovnik

• While Finn is on a secret mission, a First Order stormtrooper played by Tom Hardy glimpses Finn, but he doesn't realize it.
• The „incognito“ FN-2187 is surprised when the stormtrooper walks up behind him and slaps him on the ass.
• FN-2187 turns around and believes he's dead. He's surely going to be captured.
• The stormtrooper is elated to see his old friend from back during their First Order academy days.
• The stormtrooper congratulates FN-2187 on his promotion to Resistance infiltrator and spy.
• FN-2187 is free to go about his business to his amazement.
• At one point, Luke walks around a casino looking for someone.
• There are a lot of different aliens in that casino.

Poe/Laura Dern

• Leia's ship is ambushed and she is blasted through space.
• Leia ends up in a coma.
• Laura Dern's character then takes over Resistance command, but makes things far worse.
• A rag-tag group of Resistance fighters have seen some battle.
• Cut and bruised, they and Poe Dameron are on the ship of Laura Derns character.
• Laura Dern is playing some sort of captain or officer.
• She tells the fighters that they are the last of the Resistance and that General Leia Organa has been gravely injured and is receiving medical attention.
• Poe then points his blaster at Dern's character and they remove the crew/techs from their stations.
• Poe takes control of the situation and becomes the interim leader of the Resistance.

The Knights of Ren on Ahch-To

• There is smoke.
• A ship appears to have crashed.
• A group of men dressed as black knights with black helmets approach the smoky debris.
• All of the knights then kneel around the smoky location.
• It appears as if one of the knights perished in the crash or someone important is about to step out of it.
• Luke Skywalker and Rey are on Ahch-To just before nightfall as the sun sets in the background and it starts to rain.
• Rey's hair is pulled back. She doesn't have the vest from TFA on.
• Kylo Ren and the Knights of Ren turn up along the coast.
• Kylo Ren continues advancing towards the heroes with the Knights of Ren.
• Kylo does not wear the mask here.
• Kylo has the same cross guard saber as he did in TFA.
• Kylo's costume looks the same as in TFA.
• Rey and Kylo Ren duel one-on-one and end up fighting along the cliff face overlooking the nighttime water.
• Kylo wants his revenge after Rey disgraced him.
• The Knights of Ren go for Luke Skywalker while Rey is left for Kylo.
• Luke Skywalker engages the Knights on the beach while Kylo attempts to kill Rey.
• The first black knight has an axe but moves towards Luke but is Force pushed away to his death after being thrown through the air.
• After Luke dispatches the first Knight he ignites his green lightsaber.
• Luke moves through each Knight one-by-one.
• Rey and Kylo's battle moves up to the side of a cliff.
• Suddenly Rey is nowhere to be seen. She's taken out of the battle; she's either wounded or appears to go over the side of the cliff.
• Luke Skywalker casually walks towards Kylo to finish him but Kylo retreats when he sees his crew defeated.
• Luke Skywalker is a badass Jedi and he'll destroy your squad.

 

Thanks for this! There is nothing linking the Finn/Tom Hardy scenes to planet Dubrovnik, however - you might wish to move that breakdown to come under a heading like 'Unknown First Order base'. And if you want to include reliable spoilers that go beyond MSW, you could also include things like the landspeeder crashing and Finn and KMT's character on the back of the space pony in Dubrovnik (we know those things happen because we have photos of them).

Thank you, nonesuch. I will read through it and update my summary, but I will do this tomorrow, it's already a bit late here.

 

Can I suggest that all spoilers are edited (is that possible) to fit into the original thread for ease of use? Then delete comments like this one to clean it up so it is in a central clearinghouse (for lack of a better term). Busy (read: lazy) fans like myself would love a one stop summary to stay up to date.

 

That would require mods to do that editing to the original post, and at least for now we don't really want to add that layer to the process. Last time (in the TFA forum) we just had the posters who took this on copy and paste their old updates into new posts and then make their changes or additions there. People only need to look at the latest post in the thread to see the updated version of chronology, etc.

• It seems that the duo is part of a bodyguard retinue, which appears to be captained by a reptile-like alien.
• The group is seen with a blonde woman dressed all in white, and dripping with jewellery, at the centre of their group - presumably their employer/charge.
• As well as a retinue human bodyguards and two (presumable) handmaidens, the mystery women in white is protected by another extra terrestrial - an ape-like humanoid.
• With one of the two hopping in to drivers seat to gun the engine his companion prepares to enter the car, unbeknownst to them that they are walking into a trap.
• But with the alarm being raised the two men are able to throw themselves out of harm's way, just moments before the speeder blows up.
• Showering the street with sparks and bodywork, the landspeeder explodes in a blaze of destructive glory.
• At one point, Finn and a woman (possibly KMT) ride on a strange „space horse“.

Nice update, but are you sure the Finn/Tom Hardy scenes are linked to Dubrovnik? I hate to be a pedant, but I really don't see anything linking that scene to that location.

Don't forget about Larry, he's crucial to the casino scene.

 

Yeah, I would keep this list "interpretation free." Otherwise, people will start to think that Hardy definitely appears on the Dubrovnik set.

 

That was the problem with the last one after DLB dropped it.

 

The ass-slapping does not occur at Dubrovnik. It occurs while Finn, Rey, and BDT are infiltrating a First Order base. And it happens to both Finn and Rey

BENICIO DEL TORO IN DUBROVNIK RUMORS AND PRODUCTION TENTS SET UP FOR STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII! by Jason Ward (editor-in-chief)

Over the last few days there have been tents set up around Dubrovnik for the filming of Star Wars: Episode VIII. Most of the articles we have researched at MakingStarWars.net state that Benicio Del Toro will be filming in Dubrovnik. There is almost a hysteria about him being in the location but below are the best of the articles we found. At this point there is not a lot of strong evidence to back up the Del Toro rumors. The one thing that is for sure is that a lot of people believe he will be filming there really soon based on the articles and people we’ve spoken to over the last several days.

Here’s a little taste of the rumors that Benicio Del Toro is going to film in Dubrovnik. The following quote is translated into English and therefore may not read well.

Recording in Dubrovnik is scheduled to last for seven days, and it is rumored to Dubrovnik could host Benicio Del Toro, which is offered the role of villain.​

From vijesti.rtl.hr: "Scenes will be shot at the Stradun, Banja Beach and Rector’s Palace"

Just to be clear: at this point we haven’t seen any evidence that Del Toro in the area. There were also rumors of Carrie Fisher near the location, but according to her Twitter she was nowhere in the area and by all accounts it seems too early for that. The people of Dubrovnik are really excited to have Star Wars: Episode VIII and that really gets the rumors flying. With filming having not yet begun, I find it unlikely that Del Toro would be there yet but a lot of the rumors state that he’s vacationing in the area to experience the culture (which still seems unlikely considering the lack of evidence).
In factual news, a setup on the harbor has been erected, which is believed to be for seven days of filming in March. Here are some pictures of the setup during the day and night:

From 24 Sata who also discuss the Del Toro rumor and add another photo to the mix:

"Rumor has come to Dubrovnik that actor Benicio Del Toro will be there but has not yet confirmed whether he will play the villain in the film."

According to jutarnji.hr:

"Due to the recording of the spectacle, special traffic regulations have been established, and will close the shop in Stradun, says the production."​

And once again, they believe Del Toro will be there.
If Star Wars: Episode VIII does have Del Toro there it would seem that the filming is probably unlikely to be for Ahch-To filming, unless the bad guys find the location in VIII. The first rumors that presented the Del Toro casting said he was to play a new villain. Based on the locations we have seen so far in Dubrovnik, it seems like these locations will represent a new planet in the Star Wars universe if we had to make a bet.
We will continue to research the news stories coming out of Dubrovnik to hopefully dig up some interesting news over the next month.

Was that necessary? Unless you're paying him to do this, you have little grounds for feeling entitled to an update of this thread.

 

He started this thread. It's stickied. So he has a responsibility to update it. I don't feel entitled, I just want it to be accurate.
