Here's something that was suggested to me that provoked much thought. Is each Star Wars movie made with a different genre in mind (apart from science fiction of course)? Do these genres affect the way each movie is played out, the intensity of drama, action, comedy and also music, cinematography and dialogue? For instance: Episode I - The Phantom Menace: a family adventure film Episode II - Attack of the Clones: a detective story or mystery Episode III - ??? Episode IV - A New Hope: an old-fashioned swashbuckling adventure Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back: a dark thriller with horror elements Episode VI - Return of the Jedi: a sword and sorcery fantasy When i think about it each film certainly has strong elements that point towards each genre and seem to be more prevalent in one film than another. What does anyone else think about this?
