I looked up Chief Chirpa and he did not die in the EU books, though he did die post Endor.

EDIT: Though I can go by time as well and Het Nkik would still be wrong. If you can point out which Jawa in ANH was Het Nkik otherwise he is just an EU character placed in that Jawa Camp.

Het was the Jawa in the Cantina, there was a story about him. Shortly after the ANH cantina scene he was shot to bits by Davin Felths partner.

Actually, the answer would be some random guy on the Tantive IV. The first MAINISH charater would probably be Biggs, or Porkins.

Seeing has how the novel Star Wars [Clearly EU] was published before the movie premiered.
