So NV Star Wars: Expanded Universe (Where the really neat stuff happens)

This is a thread for those of us that rather enjoy to read the EU. Because to be honest while the movies are sheer brilliance and movie making genius, nothing beats a well written book, especially one that has lightsabers. Also a book will last me a lot longer than the movies. But anywho...post your favorite books or talk about your favorite books. SPOILERS ARE ALLOWED however please use discretion and give ample warning. Especially if it's a prequal to Episode III. There are plenty of other threads on other boards to discuss Episode III stuff. But anywho....on with the thread.


Currently I'm going back and rereading all of the New Jedi Order books preceding The Unifying Force. I'm on the third book right now Dark Tide II: Ruin. And I just wanna say...that Jagged Fel is really frickin cool....way to tell of those stupid politicians.

Someday I might re-read and finish the NJO books, but only when they come out with a cliffs notes version of that stupid Jaina book that I can't remember the title too. I haven't read a single NJO book since that piece of crap stole $6 from me.

 

Dark Journey? That's the one I'm reading now. It is kinda hard to get through. All it's about is:

"Hi, I'm Jaina, and I'm going evil."
"Hi, I'm Jag Fel, and I love Jaina."
"Hi, I'm Kyp, and I'd love to corrupt the neice of Luke Skywalker."
"Hi, were the Hapans. No one cares what we do or say."

And besides, Luke says one line in the whole book. That's just not cool!

I still have a few chapters left. Hopefully the next books are better.

 

my fave EU book would have to be the duelogoy of Vision of the Future and Spector of the Past. but i have to say that without the Thrawn triliogy, they would be nothing.

i love jag too. he is my hero.

 

I think i'm the only person in the Fan Force that liked Dark Journey....eh oh well.


Corran is an uber jedi....yes.

 

Corran and Ganner... they made a great team in the Dark Tide books.

Plus, Corran's dual-phase shifting lightsaber through the eye trick was SWEET!

 

i liked dark journey and i liked star by star a lot too. i was so very sad when anikan died tho. he had become one of my favorite NJO characters.

 

Yeah, Jacen should have died, and Anakin lived... that woulda been better.

 

i totally didn't think he was dead until they actually burned him. i thought that he would get up and start kicking some vongbutt at any time.

 

you say Jacen should have died, but he'll redeem himself, wait for it...Traitor is a stinkin book of awesomeness....and if anakin hadn't died tahiri wouldn't have developed like she did...and she rules by the end of the war....

 

yes I can't wait to get back to the books where jacen is actually cool....I'm just starting the Agents of Chaos ones, and thus far in the NJO series all he does is complain about his path and always thinkin about his future instead of the here and now. Gosh....just shut up and let life take you where it will. And i don't know if it's just me but did anyone else get teary eyed when Chewie died? or when they actually had the memorial service for him on Kashyyk? I don't know why but those parts are just really sad to me and make my eyes watery....i'm not like sobbing like a little baby just the water is ready to run....yeah anywho....

I don't care what anyone says, the death of Chewie WAS sad. How dare they kill off Chewie!

 

I bought the next like 4 books after Dark Journey, so I think I'm set all the way up to the Force Heretic books.

 

Yeah I was bummed out by Chewie's death, and by Anakin's death as well....he's such a great kid. And the Force Heretic Books are flippin great.
